Dr. Susan Domchek, MD ( www.pennmedici... ) is Executive Director, Basser Center for BRCA, Abramson Cancer Center (www.basser.org), Director, MacDonald Women’s Cancer Risk Evaluation Center And Basser Professor in Oncology, Professor of Medicine, Perelman School of Medicine, University of Pennsylvania.
Dr. Domchek’s work focuses on the genetic evaluation and medical management of individuals with inherited risk factors for cancer and she is particularly interested in developing new cancer therapies, including her work on the development of PARP inhibitors for breast cancer patients due to genetic risk factors, as well as the fascinating new domain of “immuno-interception” of very early stage cancers before they become malignant.
An elected member of the National Academy of Medicine, American Association of Physicians, and American Society of Clinical Investigation, Dr. Domchek is also a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology for which she had served on a number of committees. A significant contributor to the oncology literature, she has authored/co-authored more than 250 articles appearing in scholarly journals, including the New England Journal of Medicine, the Journal of the American Medical Association and the Journal of Clinical Oncology.
Dr. Domchek also serves on a number of editorial review boards, as well as on the Scientific Advisory Board for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Dr. Domchek has a BA (Engineering Sciences) from Dartmouth College, and an MD (Internal Medicine) from Harvard Medical School.
