I was co-president of the LGB student faculty organization on my university campus for two years in the early - mid '90s. THEN I remember saying that "diversity" means 'in everything but thought.' This has been going on for a long time and it's just gotten worse.

Thank you for speaking out, Dr Lee. As I listened to you, I was also thinking about Richard Bilkszto. I still can't imagine the amount of hateful rhetoric that must have been directed at him by the self-proclaimed 'inclusive and kind' people. We cannot allow any more tragedies like his to happen.

Legendary integrity. She should be running a department somewhere in my view. Individuals who advocate for impartial critical thinking, kindness and epistemic diversity, equity & inclusion often face persecution. Appreciate her dedication to humanizing all. Calling people in instead of calling people out; brilliant approach! Respect her mindset so much. Us vs bias. Us vs hatred. Epistemic justice and civil liberties for all.

@longWriter

She shared some information about that around @1:18 or so; she didn't focus on de-centering whiteness, and what she said (or the parts of what she said that the editor of this video allowed us to hear) implied she wanted white faculty members to be comfortable coming to a building, but the coordinator did not. I have to admit, though: that's not a lot of information.

@@longWriter That's what I was wondering too. I hate DEI...but if she approached wanting people to be ,"included" that may not be - for all kinds of stupid reasons, whether from prejudice, jealousy, envy, spite, entrenched paternalism etc... Then I would be more understanding of that.

C'mon bro. In an interview with Peter Boghossian, she does admit her wrongs and she regrets being the pioneer for all of this woke stuff. If we continue to blame people like her then those same people will feel that the woke cult is the only safe spot. Having that mentally is the no different than the woke mob. I used to be an advocate of preferred pronouns and anti racism. Now that I see the harm it's doing, I do everything I can to go against this. To make sure no one makes the same mistake again.
@lynx882
@lynx882 Жыл бұрын
@@fusionspaceart3690 I understand what you mean when you equate our disinclination to forgive or to pardon with the "woke mob's" disinclination to forgive or to pardon behaviors of their enemies: To you, it seems that both the "woke mob" and we are unwilling to leave a path open for redemption; the woke mob refuse to allow the redemption of the racist, the sexist, the transphobe, the **bigot**; whereas we refuse to allow this purple haired malcontent to redeem herself and make alliance with us. I understand your perspective. However, here's why both you and this woman are not to be trusted: you are motivated by your profound boredom to seek a moral battle against an external evil; it does not matter what form this evil takes (a racist, a bigot, a capitalist, an unscrupulous doctor, an institution, a woke mob, or anything that can be described as an oppressor), for your type does battle with "evil", and has done battle with "evil" for thousands of years now. The question for me is not whether this woman has reformed and atoned, but which crusade will she join next. There can be no appeasing the mob and offering refuge to those who become tired of their crusade; we can only redirect their energy to another "evil", or wait for the exhaustion of their energies. The fact this woman has defected suggets her lack of energy to continue to fight evil, so that at the same time she defects she also becomes virtually useless to me. Someone has already taken her place, and the example that has set will mean nothing to those who are still very much intoxicated with grandness of the ongoing moral battle between "good" and "evil". The "same mistake" you speak of will always be made, except in the future the battle lines between good and evil may be different. That you "used to be an advocate" tells me that you had been enraptured by the same struggle of Good v.s. Evil, but you have now reoriented yourself so that Evil includes the "woke mob" because you "see the harm its doing." "Harm" is an interestingly nebulous concept, isn't it? So many things could be said to cause invisible "harm". Is "harm" your evil to fight, your great Satan? Well, every Satan needs his Michael; every Jesus needs his Judas. And if we can't find him, we'll surely invent him. Enjoy your moral crusade, present and future. Happy fighting to you warrior.
