Hi Kerry. Thanks for taking the time to watch my video and then for commenting. It’s always good to hear someone appreciating my video. As for the bikes, I’m anti V Strom. The weight is an issue for me because of all the luggage we take. I can’t say enough about the DR’s. They are a dirt bike so aren’t as good on the road. I suppose even if you are mainly on the road you have to ask what if a track appears and you want to go down it. The DR reigns supreme. It would depend how long your trips are. We’ve had trips over 1600ks and the DRs are fine. I carry over 70kgs and don’t notice it. I must say that my DR mods with the pumper carb, airbox mod and Safari tank are a must. The missus bike with the 20ltr Acerbis tank does have handling issues with a heavy load on the rear. It’s very tail happy. I would never and still are not considering another bike. The DR is so capable and has ample power for overtaking when fully loaded . Mate of mine has done the Canning Stock Route on his DR and is doing the Simpson now. He put me onto them and I’ve never looked back. Just remember my modified bike weighs about 190kgs empty. So as for adventure bikes it’s quite light. Had a KLR which was a bit heavier but lacked in power and was top heavy. Best of luck to you with your decision 😄👍

Hi there. Thanks for your comments. Great bikes new or older aren't they?

Hi there, thank you as well for taking the time to comment. Yes it is a beautiful country. It's a pity that I haven't been able to cover more yet. I've only scratch the South West of WA let alone the North and other states.

Hi Neil. No way. You have to be comfortable you know LOL. When we go away we are very self sufficient. You have to have cold drinks, meat and veg and a great bed. Just got to be able to handle the bikes off road, steep inclines and bush bashing. Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Take care. By the way I would love to travel the world one day and all I need extra would be passports and travel documents.

Hi there, you are not wrong. I have to remember at times not to be too gung ho but it is worth it. What better person to spend time on a motorbike than your one and only. Best way to travel ever. Cheers thanks for your comment.

I know this is an older video, but I just found it. I have to ask after the opening scene of your fully loaded bike...did you somehow re-enforce the sub-frame or is it stock? I'd really like to have the confidence to load my DR up like that! Thanks for a great video!

Hi Cayoot. Thanks for watching my video and taking time to comment. Yes we get comments all the time coffees on our trips about how heavy we travel. First hour or so is hairy getting used to the weight and after that we're fine. No the subframe isn't reinforced bit we did buy the bikes brand new so know all about the history. We've just come back from our 8th trip which included a lot of dirt. We take it easy if it's rough and I can't go too fast otherwise I'll leave the missus behind. All I can say is if you are going to load it up, take it easy and no jumps. Have fun riding 😊

Hi 👋 good video.. I own a 2013 DR650SE/790 big bore and absolutely love it.. I just recently bought the 58 liter givi top case with the rack and adapter plate. Was wondering what size yours is and how difficult the installation was?? Plan on installing it tomorrow. More so so I can use the top case to carry my tools to work. Thanks a lot and ride safe

Hi again, my top case is a SW Motec 37 ltr. It was a pain to install on the B&B rack. If i had gotten the Motorrad rack, it would've been easy as pie. I love my case for the security too. my last trip I used soft luggage and was worried sick whenever i left my bike to get food supplies. Thanks again.

Hi, What has happened to Pt 2???? Is everything OK? regards Ed_Venture
@cairnstravellers7 жыл бұрын
Hi Ed_Venture, wow deeply honoured that you watched my videos. I enjoy watching yours and especially from a West Australian. All is ok as can be in light of family tragedy. I've tried several times to upload but it keeps failing and a lot of my GoPro footage was corrupted. I've tried video converters but nothing can recover the footage. All excuses aside, I keep thinking about uploading and other chores get n the way. Don't worry the missus is always on my back to get more done. So thanks for the reminder, one will be done ASAP. Cheers

Glad to hear all is OK, I like your videos and also the fact that you are a local out there doing it!!. Adam Riemann (Motonomad), who is based in Perth is setting a very high bar to jump for us with his great video work. Mongrel Dog productions is also based here and he is always getting out into the never never on his Adventures!! I find the "uploading a process" fraught with danger. I have actually cut down the length of all my postings to avoid loosing them in the internet ether ...?? I am guilty of slacking off recently but....in my defence I have been travelling taking lots of footage. In fact I returned from Alice springs this evening! So I'm aiming to be back into it and my postings as soon as I can get all the things I haven't done for the past three months sorted, mostly bills, bills, licenses and more bills. I'm not expecting my KZbin income to help any time soon either.......
