Disturbing Video Game Music 237: Arceus Battle - Pokemon Legends: Arceus

Certainly one of the best Pokemon games ever released and a breath of fresh air for the franchise: Pokemon Legends: Arceus has you go back to the old days of Sinnoh before it was called Sinnoh to complete the first Pokédex and stop a terrible rip in the spacetime continuum. You play as your classic teenage Pokemon trainer, though this time they aren't just off to become the best there ever was, instead it is Arceus himself who sends them off on their journey.
Completing the Pokédex is a lot easier in this game due to having but a fraction of the usual Pokemon (though certainly still a great challenge) and also gives you a unique reward: the chance to pull a Jacob and have a friendly spar with an incarnation of God. Legends: Arceus confirms a long standing fan theory that the pokemon Arceus that trainers have been catching for years is but an weaker avatar of an absurdly powerful being that no Master Ball could ever hope to come close to containing. The creator of the pokemon universe is holding back in this friendly fight, yet this remains without a doubt the toughest battle in the game and likely one of the toughest in the series. The music really emphasizes just how unfathomable and overwhelming Arceus is, a chaotic and alien remix of Arceus' already monstrous battle theme. As the fight goes on and Arceus brings out stronger attacks, the music gets more and more intense. Eventually it reaches a point where it glitches out and distorts horribly, as if the music itself can't comprehend how terrifyingly powerful Arceus is. It makes for an extremely memorable fight and yet another reason Legends: Arceus is just fantastic.

Creep-o-Meter: 8.5/10. It's no wonder that the world's strongest Pokémon has such a dark theme, eh. The last three minutes are the scariest due to how glitchy it sounded.

This piece was both creepy and *awesome* The glitchy part is actually perhaps my favorite because it makes it feel like reality itself can barely handle the power of your clash with the Poke’God. I also like how it’s followed up by the drummer just going *IN* upon your victory
