Can I just say paladin of Bahamut/Pact of the blade warlock using the draconic shard as a patron and sentient sword multi class, thatd be awesome to make mechanically and role playing wise

Hi! So i want to be able to let my players summon the dragon in fights. What would be an acceptable level to do that?

Considering that the dragon coming out of the summon would need to be adult or better ancient even, it is pretty unmanagable to let it out on full power as it will take over the fight one way or another. Either by being FAR stronger than the party if it isn't a lv 17+ party of atleast 3 people or by having you handle another action PLUS 3 legendary magic attack actions AND layer actions alongside all the shenanigans lvl 17+ characters and their enemies do to begin with. These guys have psionic AOE shockwaves, can just make the enemy forget they are fighting, forget their spells, multiattack, use EVERY psionic power as an action and literally warp space while being fire and lightning immune and resistant to all non-magical damage types. The best way to do it would be to either limit its action pool for some lore reason or let it be summonable for only one or so rounds. If you are not at the point where you are fighting gods, keep the full powered ancient gem dragon pet off the playground :D
