A magnet runs under the table for the myst multi ball

I've serviced this game! t's a long rotating screw rod with an electromagnet affixed to the top of it, connected to the MPU with a long coily cable that looks like an old school telephone cord. As the screw rod rotates, the magnet glides horizontally back and forth. It takes up an impressive amount of real estate under the playfield. A long-range opto system inside the left and right ball gates checks to see if the ball is still connected to the magnet by firing a beam of light across the ball's path. If the light detector at one end can't see the light, the game assumes the ball is still on the magnet. However, if the ball is knocked free of the magnet, the detector suddenly has a clear view of the light and tells the game that Mist Multiball has started.
