It's a pretty interesting plot point in this that Talbot wants to stop Dracula, but knows he can't control the werewolf transformation. So he's really just trying to get into a position where he can _aim_ the werewolf transformation at Dracula and rely on the fact that it's too wild to be controlled, can overpower the vampire physically and is immune to the effects of being bitten if that happens. After Karloff, Glenn Strange looked the best in the Frankenstein monster make-up. Even Jack Pierce, the make-up artist who created most of the Universal monsters, said that Strange had the perfect face for the monster.
