RSD Dmarco LOL that's why he looked scared as hell when Bravo started pulling on that ankle huh? Or when he started to twist it because Royler and his ego didn't want to lose again. As for him "running" after their jits competition. Thats complete crap, just nonsense the Gracies said to defend their egos. I love the Gracies but look at the facts. Royler was in some serious danger and definitely took some degree of damage to his knee.

Guys, Eddie got his black belt in the Gi from JJ Machado. Eddie dominated Royler in their rematch. I understand what this legend in BJJ is saying, but Eddie Bravo's 10th Planet JJ is the real deal. Eddie never said he was against the Gi, he only said he wanted to evolve the No-Gi aspect of BJJ for MMA. He ALWAYS gives the Gracies and Gi training the highest praise. I'm not for or against anyone in particular, but pay homage where it's due. JJ Machado gives Eddie mad props for his no-gi system. He and his students have proven it's effectiveness in and out of the Octagon. I think Draculino should sit and talk with Eddie and get to know him. I think he'd change his opinion of "The Rubber Man". : )
@underboss8710 жыл бұрын
Eddie trained for over 10 years in the GI. Machado says it himself when he got promoted to 3rd degree black belt. Calling Eddie "The Rubber Man" just sounds disrespectful. Eddie is a legend. As you already know - he got promoted to black belt by JJ Machado, that says it all.

@deepsweech10 жыл бұрын
i agree. Eddie deserves respect. He has his own ways, techniques and philosophies and he earned his belt from one of the greatest. No one can challenge that. One thing I agree with Drac is, Royler is Royler, Eddie can beat him 10 times but Royler had proved for decades his skills in Gi, No-Gi and MMA. Eddie has his numbers, but that doesnt mean Eddie is better.
@jw_2510 жыл бұрын
Kinosis79 The Gracie family have a slew of walking legends and some students who are walking legends, but Eddie Bravo is also a legend in his own right and an amazing pro-cannabinoid activist. Respect should be given where it is due. On both sides. From my perspective, Royler was unable to pass Eddie's half guard all match, and didn't land two submission attempts. So I personally feel Eddie performed remarkably better than Royler. At least Royler didn't get submitted again.
@jw_2510 жыл бұрын
Actually, Royler never dominated anything "on top" since he was unable to pass Eddie's "lockdown" technique. I practice the rubber guard as well and trapping someone in the lockdown requires you start on the bottom. Unless you actually practice the rubber guard you would not have been able to see this. By the way the intro to rubber guard techniques is over 200 moves just to start. You should first give the rubber guard system an honest look so you can comment on it in proper context.

Good video! Draculino is very funny. I just disagree with one thing: I don't know who started all this, but people have been feeding the Gracies and their friends and students with a lot of lies about Eddie Bravo. I don't believe Eddie Bravo ever claimed to be better than the Gracies, ever talked trash about them, and ever claimed that his no-gi approach was better. He never did those things, as far as I know. He has mad respect for the Gracies, and all he ever did was help develop a Jiu Jitsu style that was better FOR MMA FIGHTERS. Since in MMA you have no gi, it's better to train for it without a gi. That doesn't mean that he thinks it is better than training and learning with a gi on, or that he invented Jiu Jitsu. He explains that in a Joe Rogan podcast directly TO RICKSON GRACIE. Everyone hates him because of a lot of lies that have been said about him, when he himself claims that he owes his life to the Gracies, he respects them, he loves what they've done, and he just tried to contribute to something, which he did. He should get more respect.

Hey Drac, looks like Eddie is Eddie (i.e. Mike Tyson, your words!) and Royler is a crybaby, he needs to .. how did you put it? Know his place? (Below Eddie that's for sure) Something like that. Yeah, if you think "the rubber man" sucks so much, put your ass on the line like Royler did. I'd love to see it, because I always had respect for you until I heard this interview. Now I'd like to see you hobble around for a few weeks like Royler is. I had to laugh at Royler's "surf" pic released today.. where one can plainly see in the background there's absolutely zero chance of any surfing going on.. in fact the ocean was about as calm as could be. And how cool of your buds over at Gracie mag, they totally aren't trying to revise what happened to Royler (twice, now) are they? Those pictures, they were obviously the best ones they could have chosen? What about the actions of Royce? And Ralek having the nerve to tell Scotty to 'stand them up'??! Bunch. Of. Crybabies. The whole fuckin' family. I finally figured out why Brazilian instructors say "leave your ego at the door" - it's because their own ego is too damn big for the damn building already.

You are talking about a 4 year old video. One that Draculino and Eddie resolved long ago. In fact, before the fight, I asked Drac who he thought would win...and he said Eddie has a chance, he is really Tricky. He wasn't talking shit about Eddie. That said, the point of saying Eddie isn't on the same Level as Royler is simply because Royler dominated for ever. Eddie chose a different path, but that isn't to say Eddie isn't great at Jiu-Jitsu.

Faceless how can he be better? Roller is a multiple time ADCC champ, Eddie none. Roller was like 50 years old in the rematch. The only reason anyone knows who Eddie is is because of Royler’s accomplishments and he freely admits that.
@dash48006 жыл бұрын
@@russellward4624 royler was only five years older in that rematch. Eddie stopped competing to start his own gym. The Gracie's don't have to worry about that, they have an institution. You can't train for competition and start a business at the same time. And now that Eddie has guys that he has trained for years they are beginning to compete and do well.

Well, after the second fight at Metamoris 3, Eddie proved his system is very effective.
@jw_2510 жыл бұрын
I disagree. Their last bout was far from a draw. Eddie almost had Royler on two submission attempts while Royler couldn't even pass Eddie's half guard all match. To say Royler is "48" and "retired" is insulting to a jiu jitsu ledgend. Rolyer at 48 was, and still is, in far better shape than Eddie was and will ever be. Eddie admitted this in post fight. At 48, Royler can still roll with world champion students half his age with ease. Eddie Bravo is still the only American in history to defeat a multiple ADCC jiu jitsu legend as a brown belt. A feat yet to be replicated and a feat neither you or I will ever see repeated in our lifetime. Lastly, talking about accomplishments is a very amateurish view of competition jiu jitsu vs being a full time dad/sensei/music producer like Bravo. Eddie has also openly admitted his admiration and respect for other competitors who are better than he will ever be in competition. As a blue belt, the more I teach, the worse I do in competition. Period. It's a big decision one has to make when deciding to quit competing and go full time teaching. Nobody, not even Royler, can do that. The fact is Eddie Bravo single handedly revolutionized no-gi jiu jitsu and has developed one of the best systems addressing giant weaknesses in traditional gi-to no-gi jiu jitsu techniques, other than Marcello Garcia. His latest match further proves a master practitioner with more experience, in better shape, and in most areas better technique, still could not land even one submission attempt. It's quite impressive to say the least.
@jw_259 жыл бұрын
***** A compelling point of view should never make your blood pressure go up. To address your question…I don’t recall Royler producing ADCC “champs”. I don't recall Draculino ever winning an IBJJF Mundial. That still doesn’t detract the fact that both Royler and Draculino are legends or the fact that Eddie Bravo has radically changed no-gi jiujitsu especially no-gi for MMA.
@jw_259 жыл бұрын
***** I disagree. Many fighters with moderate joint dexterity has used some form of Eddie Bravo’s “Lock Down” in UFC, Pride FC IBJJF Worlds, ADCC, and Metamoris at least twice. His “Twister” was successfully implemented in UFC twice i believe. I’m not sure of this “hype” you speak of though. Eddie has always shown the utmost respect to the Gracie family, their legacy, their positive influence on his game, etc. He always praises superior no-gi competitors like Marcello Garcia, Kron Gracie, Buchecha, etc. He’s never said he was better than anyone. It’s not “hype” it’s your “hatred”, for what reason I don’t know why.

I wouldn't say the Gracie's are necessarily the best now days, people evolve. Although the gi can be good because most people are wearing clothes in a street fight, many of them wearing jeans and a jacket depending on where you're at. So No gi can give you a false sense of security and so can the gi, it depends where or who you're fighting that day. If you're on the beach, No Gi, if you're in cold weather, Gi. Hell we should roll with shoes if its ever possible, not everybody walks around in sandals all day. Another thing is BJJ was simply an evolution. After the Gracies traveled the world looking to perfect an art, they got most of their moves from other arts, much of it is a combination of different arts like Judo, Sambo, Catch Wrestling, Pankration etc. They simply made the game better when fighting from the back, like escapes and shrimping etc... The Arm bar, chokes, and bunch of other submissions already existed.

And you criticize him for not producing a champion instantly? That makes no sense. And look now, he has guys competing at the highest levels and winning and has many UFC fighters he trains.
