I am working on creating the requested video. For the meantime, the function and use of the chisel is the same as the enamel hatchet. The enamel hatchet is a modification of the chisel for better accessibility.

Doc what’s the difference between bevel and flare ?

The bevel is an abrupt inclination on the enamel margins of the cavity including incisal, gingival, mesial and distal. e.g.: Class III and IV a bevel is placed on the facial surface around the enamel margins . Class V a bevel is placed on the incisal or occlusal, mesial and distal enamel margins. A bevel is placed on the gingival margin if the cavity margin gingivally is on enamel. The flare typically invloves the length of the proximal walls (buccal and lingual) and is gradual. In Art and Science of Operative Dentistry textbook, 7th edition, you can find the flare was mentioned in the class II cast-metal restorations chapter. You will find images there to help illutstrate it. The purpose of both (bevel and flare) is to enhance retention of the restoration.

To clarify, the explanation provided in the comments is for the bevel placed during cavity preparation. The bevel in the cutting instruments that creates the cutting edge. There is no flare in the instruments. The flare is created in the cavity preparation.

دكتوره يعنى فى GMT بنشوف ال angle فوق ولاتحت علشان نحدد هى distal or mesial لكن فى chisles بنحدد حسب bevel فوق تكون distal ولا تحت تكون mesial صح كده
