Best way to put engine and transmission in together. Go to harbor freight get the tall jack stands and a movers dolly. Put the car on jack stands put the engine/transmission on the dolly slide it under lower car to engine. Lot faster and easier

Also consider doing riv certs on the front radiator support. Just drill out the spot welds and add the certs. The rear mount first.

Buy a load leveler for your engine lift. It will make a huge difference! Bolt it to the top distributor ear and then on the other side, use the 14mm bolt hole just below the valve cover on the front side and also the back side of the head. Leave trans mount bracket off (keep actual mount on the frame rail) and driver mount off, keep rear t bracket on, tilt trans side down, lower engine into the car. Once the trans is down under the frame mount, level the engine back out, attach trans mount bracket to trans and driver mount to post mount and finish installing.

We did notice when we mounted it that it would of been easier to have the transmission hanging lower so that it would all go in flat and it would of been easier to remove, I’ll check out the load leveler, deff gonna help make the process smoother

With a cherry picker I find it hard to set the engine in with care. Picking the body up high with a floor Jack and sliding the engine under with a cart is what has work best for me in a garage setup. I’ve considered using the cherry picker to pick the body up but then the legs block from sliding an engine in with a cart.

At first we were gonna try to pick the body up with the cherry picker but didn’t know the right way to not scratch the new paint but that makes sense the legs would block, i guess the struggle is gonna have to work now

I usually put the driver and rear mount on but loose adjust chain so the trans is lower dip the trans in under frame put trans mount on loose readjust chain so enigine is level and the drivers mount and trans mout slide in as you center the rear mount 20:44

Yes we thought about that after we did it, to have the trans dip down some, it deff Would of saved the paint, but you live and learn, you don’t think so clearly When your in a rush 🤣

Harbor freight cart put the engine on it slide the trans on and roll it right under the car take the wheels off lower with the jack it’s perfect height then you don’t have to deal with an engine hoist
