NJ Reg question. Speckled trout are a different species than weakfish according to wiki. My tackle shop tells me Specs are considered weakfish by Fish and Game. Do the weakfish regs apply to Speckled trout?

Did you guys go out on Sunday morning while the rain stopped? I tried the other end, bay side, nothing. One guy dunked clams ocean side and only got one. This was in the first hour and a half of daylight.

How is the 9’ Odm Genesis with throwing Hydro Minnows and other lighter 1 to 2 oz lures?

I bomb 3/4 ounce bucktails on it. That’s about as light as I’d go before it feels awkward. 1.5-2.5 ounces is the sweet spot. Perfectly made for hydro minnows and pencils.

Bernie Newbie here mind sharing tackle combination rod reel choice line lbs test mfg..

I like a 9 foot medium action rod that can handle 3/4-3 ounces. That’s really all you need for striper/bluefish fishing. A nice 4500-6000 reel is perfect too, can hold plenty of line and has plenty of drag. As far as line goes I like 20-30 pound test braided line and 50-60 pound flourocarbon leader.

@@Anonymous-g14classified what guy is that ? I’ve put a good amount of time & effort over the past 30 years to find spots, learn which tides to fish. For years most of these spots you never saw more than 4 or 5 other guys. Now on most nights there are 15+. And half of those guys have little to any fishing etiquette. Sorry but IMO, this new generation of anglers (especially those who fish from land) don’t understand the importance of being tight lipped about where they are fishing. I’ve already seen a number of good, productive spots closed off to the public because people didn’t respect the surrounding neighborhoods, threw trash all over, urinated (or worse) etc. Got nothing against YT videos just try make it not so obvious as to where you are fishing.

@@yada2033 Yes, I’m from NJ and believe it or not I know guys who have been fishing for years that just “discovered” this spot. So yeah, not everyone knows about (or at least they didn’t until recently). Talk to me when spots that you have fished for years & years where you were lucky to see more than 3 other guys during a tide now have 25 guys (half not knowing what they are doing or have no clue about etiquette) and leave all their trash behind.
