X3 M40i owner here. B58 pulls faster of the line than S58 but then gets caught up. Always loved the X5 but the new screens there give me headache so opted for a 2018 X3 m40i as the X3M was too stiff for me. Zero regrets from my purchase. Except the seats maybe. Those in the X5 are unmatched. But so is the nimbleness of the X3 imho.

You always have fantastic match ups, even though they aren't always direct competitors like this video, but for me this is something I wonder all the time is the upgrade "worth" it and how big of a jump is it really from one model/engine to the other. Always some great content 🙌 can't wait to see what's to come

The power to weight ratios of the cars are nearly identical with the X5M just slightly higher. M cars are pretty much all the same pace within the categorys like saloon / suv. The X5s price is just for the space, bigger engine and class.

I had a 2019 x3M Comp and have recent;y exchanged it for a Standard M5.... Can you put a standard M5 and M5 comp and M5 CS next to each other to see the difference?

I'm pretty sure that the X5M was jumping the start. On the first drag from a launch the X5M looked like he jumped the start. The other 2 drags from a launch it looks just alright. On the first rolling race. 100% the X5M was starting ahead by at least a half car length. No doubt it. I really like the X5M. I'd take that over the X3M if I had the choice. I think his X5M is slacking somewhat. Probably doing to many launches or not running good oil. Cheap fuel. Those big rims. Something about it was off. I generally think the X5M is faster. Just not his. And he knew it. So he had to make it look like it was. That X3M is nice. I almost think I like the look and shape of it better. Maybe it's just the curvature of it. It's proportions are perfect. It's lighter and the engine is better balanced. The X3M needs to have the S63 stuffed under the hood. That would be incredible.

If the x3 had the s63 it would then be an X5. The X5 launch control could be letting the vehicle move off the line just a little faster, but without actually being there we'll never know.

Tried both, 2024 X3M and 2024 X5M, I found X3M to be more comfortable and more room for tall drivers. Bought almost fully loaded X3M for 40k USD less than X5M. I love it. It feels and drives much more like a car compared to X5M.

Did the same in 2020 brother. I wanted the x5m in the worst way but after driving the x3m and about 35k less I was blown away. With a simple tune and without risking reliability/replacing secondary parts you can increase the boost on the turbos and make it faster than a 5m or 6m. Great bang for your buck. I’m now at 42k miles and I loved every single one of em! God bless man, enjoy and drive safe!🤙🏼🤙🏼

I’ve had both, now in an M4 Convertible. The X3M shocked me. Doesn’t sound as good outside but inside that engine is delicious. It feels faster than the X5M day to day but of course it isn’t. But it’s more nimble and new they’re about £90k now new as no deals now

@@jordanlegard3764 nah the X5M definitely had really loud engine noises when flooring it, amazing sounds! First time I thought something had broken but it’s infectious. X3M the sounds at times sounded artificial. But now the M4, just had it’s run in service, pops and cackles so well and as it’s a convertible it’s natural.

My Boss just got the X3M Comp and it's a great car. The X5 comp is not worth double the price. Its just if you need a bit more room but at double the price the X3M comp is a no brained and you could tune it a bit.

You can’t tune or downpipe without a tune in the uk. All bmw ecu’s from miss 2020 are locked by bmw now. Only place to get a map is to send your ecu to Finland

I have the x4m, i added the racechip gts which they claim 611 hp with it. I did a quarter mile in 11.3 with draggy, and a 3.4 sec 0-60. Theyre wild. But your honestly paying for the v8 with the x5 and also the space and size. And the x4m is super harsh on the road so im assuming the x5 is more comfy. So i can see the price difference tbh.

whats wrong with an m40i ... sounds way better than the M, low end torque so better for city driving, much comfier, has a more reliable engine, and can be tuned with bolt ons to make well into 600whp reliably.

Wrong they’re unique to the full fat M and are much larger than the m40i wheels. They look chunkier than the double spoke.

The X5 is a 4WD while the X3 is a RWD. A fair comparison would be to turn off the front wheel drive on the X5
