Petrol will have disadvantage of torque but its compensated with higher revs available as the engine will pull for longer than a diesel, it will catch up due to diesel changing gear more often than petrol even if the horsepower is the same. Weight of fortuner is not too high compared to XUV700 given the massive torque advantage it has of 200+ nm. There is a reason why sports cars are petrol powered and not diesel, RPM is the king in drag for most part.

Bro in normal and power mode fortuner will soon gets accelerated because torque helps more in 4x2 vehicle 🙂 But sadly eco mode does not help in acceleration (mostly used for receiving mileage better than it gives in normal mode) and this new 2021 fortuner gets 201bhp and 500nm torque compared to before 2020 fortuner (170bhp and 450nm...)

Dumbass its a diesel, diesel engine dont rev much and most redline at 4500rpm. 4500 rpm is where petrol comes in its own strength revving up to 6500 rpm in most cars or even 9000 rpm in case of Porsche, 16000 rpm in case of superbikes. Diesel can't do it even with its huge torque advantage petrol engine will pull for far longer and will win in most cases. Put a Stage 3 tuned Polo 1 L TSI (183hp 300nm torque ) and it will smoke fortuner for like its a Maruti. It will even smoke XUV 700 as Polo revs more at 7500 rpm and as less weight.
