A few years ago, a friend and I did a research project for our sophomore year science fair. Actually was my first go at making web shooters. Get this, we decided to see if using two dozen golden orb weavers and harvesting their dragline for likely near 200 hours over 3 months and shoving it into our web fluid formula, basically just a brain ion silly string formula with spider silk shoved into it, would have any effect. The actual problem statement was more an excuse to make web shooters than anything. But after we took our 200+ hour pellets worth and put it in a cartridge, we shot a piece of non spider silk and the spider silk infused version, waited for them to dry completely solid and hung a plastic bag with weights in it till they broke. Surprisingly, the silk infused version held weight sixfold in comparison. Granted, that’s sixfold of basically silly string, but still we just kinda looked at each other like “no way did that actually work”. There’s half a dozen other factors that were probably the actual reason for the difference. I mean, the chain should only be as strong as it’s weakest link, right? But still, spider silk is some fascinating stuff, and I’m glad to see someone else who looks into the chemical side of it all as well.

Wow, just wow! Thanks for this info and that was a great experiment idea you guys had!! And I am pleasantly surprised with the results.

Do you think at some point in the nearby future, humans could be able to have the web glands in the wrists like the Sam Raimi Spider-Man? I just wonder because his version of Spider-Man was from a genetic engineered spider and not radioactive spider
@schizo4725 Жыл бұрын
@@jorjor94 evolve to have them? Not anytime soon. Evolution takes millions of years. And besides. Evolution tends to occur out of necessity. Right now, our biology doesn’t have much incentive to evolve web glands. Genetically engineered? Almost equally as impossible. We can hardly splice animals dna of similar genomes much less that of a spider and a human being. So tl:dr, not any time in the nearby future.

@@theAmazingalso, you’re channel is awesome! May I ask for some ideas on a web shooter? Let’s say hypothetically I make spider silk dope out of the proteins and amino acids used in spider silk, and that to make the silk, it must be pushed through a thin opening into a low-pH solution. Any ideas on how I could incorporate this mechanism into a web shooter? Thanks!

Three questions: 1: if spiders were the size of human how powerful the webs can be? 2: what kind of webs would you use that is more stronger than any other? 3: “The important question and similar one and two questions” if you’re a backpack or canisters work bigger as the spiders webs butt. And proper webs fluids at the same time of Air canister that can shoot and spread far and wide. What do you suppose/suggest it could be? 🕷🕸

Yes, but two things. I’ve reviewed in this video how chemical methods may be more successful than genetic methods… but I’d still be down to see how any spider-silk replicant could be integrated with web-shooters. No KZbinr seems to want to work with me lmao.

@@Theriople Yeah but would the body need to build up pressure in order to shoot the web out, otherwise it would just come out slowly because spiders don't shoot their webs.

Damn, that's a lot of information, it's a little difficult to me to understand all of what r u saying 'cause English isn't my first language, but is too interesting know about spiders and their proteins (lol, it's literally proteins, damn) Would work a web fluid which in two different cartridges with two different fluids, transform into a solid line with the combination of both and the expulsion of the valve? With the homemade HC web shooter, for example
@canislupusminecraft26702 жыл бұрын
Trust me, it is hard for native English speakers to understand it.
