LM definitely stole the show....as usual, he dominates any scene he is in. The only exception, the only time I saw him shrink and fade a little, was in a scene in a western with John Wayne and James Stewart. In fairness, LM's fade was part of the script, but still, I think just about anyone in a scene with the Duke was second fiddle regardless of the script. This was probably the best D-net episode of all time in terms of script, performance and camera work.

This is definitely the best episode. Lee Marvin really knocked it out of the park. Such a difference what a good professional actor can do. My favorite part was the last dinner, how he told the story so calmly, while commenting on the food and "pass me the salt and pepper, will ya?" He just kept all the things going without missing a beat, then made a comment about how they clean the place while he's eating (ruining his fine vegetarian meal). A multiple layered character, interesting as hell. I don't usually get so interested in a murderer. In this case, I wished I could get to talk with him : interesting ! BTW, Friday's partner was in a Twilight Zone episode, "Will the Real Martian Pleas Stand Up", in which he ran a diner where the passengers of a bus stopped. He had a third eye on his forehead, hidden by his cap .

Dragnet episodes are based on true stories. So what was the name of the serial killer executed at San Quentin for killing 10-12 men between Los Angeles and Sacramento in the early 1950s. This had to have been headline news at the time. Scary to think that there is probably someone else running up a string of murders right now but the dots haven't been connected yet.

Classic psychopath. Emotionally vacant. Has no empathy for others. Not all are killers however. Some find useful occupations where you have to stay calm in situations that would make the rest of us jumpy. The government has jobs like that, fighter pilot for example.
