Its ironic how every fault in the DA universe is pretty much to blame to extremism in any form, the qunari are not wrong, but they deal with every problem in a too extreme manner, Trying to force their way of life on other's is also a bad part. same goes with the circle and templars, both are not wrong, but too extreme. Mage's should be free, but a circle should also exist as a center of education and preventing demonic possessions. blood magic in itself is also not evil, but very easy to lose yourself in. templars should not be executioners, but protectors.

But people are abusive, so templars will use their perks sooner or later, that´s just how the world works, except they´re ruled strongly, but welp, even then some will become a new Meredith, circles should offer education, I agree on that one, but templars should be more empathic for everything, tranquils should not be made so often and as we know now, even if templars wronged some tranquils, they could have undone it, but they didn´t, that doesn´t show much humanity in templars. Cullen is different, but without lyrium he´s not a templar anymore. Even though, if we look back, he was an asshole back on lyrium in da 1.
@SorceressWitch3 жыл бұрын
The power dynamics and class allows for abuse of power. Templars had power over mages, who were stripped of basic rights. So abuse was bound to happen. This is why they rebelled, even though some rebels went to extreme lengths to fight back against their oppressors. I enjoyed reading Asunder too. That is when the mages rise up and Lord Seeker was an ass but even he had an interesting story. Still I don't agree with his views or actions. I might reread the dragon age books before the next game comes out. I also have The World of Thedas books which have a lot of interesting lore in them.

@@DraculaCronqvist You guessed wrong. In my view, generalizing is a mark of idiocy, that is all. Keep overinterpreting that as you see fit. Now, if you're up for something more factual: nobility was neither good nor bad, it was working. Barely, but it was. In times infinitely harsher than what you've ever known (and, let us hope, will ever know), that's all that mattered. Nobility arose from dire necessity, and hierarchy is biologically hardcoded into our brain for a reason. Then, through technological, economical and social progress, it slowly marched itself to obsolescence as a governing system (also, became gradually more decadent). Be thankful to have been born in this blessed place and time where we can afford the luxury of a working democracy. Barely working. But then again, that's all that matters.

One of the most honorable characters in the franchise.
@foxfire9320 Жыл бұрын
It doesn't actually function like a well-oiled machine. It contains horrors, broken people, scores of defectors, forcibly mind-wiped husks of people, an ideology that makes a virtue of treating people outside it as objects, and a 'badass' military leader with giant anger management issues who will never see out of the titanium cage of his own childish 'certainty', because according to the Qun, he has few choices, and he's actually enraged about it and must project the helplessness of his own situation on all the 'bas' around him 😂 I honestly think most of the people who 'support' the Arishok are blinded by a kind of fawn response. The Qunari are imposing as heck. That makes them very *uncomfortable* to oppose, even as fictional characters. Human psychology instinctively wants to ally itself with whoever seems the strongest, and will come up with all sorts of rationalizations why the biggest threat in the room is actually the most reasonable, noble, and victimised all at once. If Qunari looked like elves, it'd be such a different story 😂

Did we play the same game? The Arishok criticizes Kirkwall, true, but he was very patient and he made no demands or tried to harm anyone for the first three years he was there. Then, religios fanatics start attacking his people because they are heretics. They literally captured some of his embassadors and slit their throats while a crowd was cheering. They murdered the Viscount son just because he joined their religion(and, as their society says, he was one of them now, so again, religious zealots murdering his people). Then people try to steal their gunpowder and poison for their own ends. And last, when elves start coming to join them, after they tell of the injustices they were suffering, the city guard tried to make him give them up while ignoring the fact that there may be corruption(one of Aveline's lowest moments imo). Not saying him attempting to take over Kirkwall by force was a good choice, but he was remarkably patient with Kirkwall.

+samith hegde Isabela is an optional companion who can only be recruited in Act 1, so you missed her entirely. I didn't gain enough respect to duel the Arishok in my first playthrough as well, and I had a hard time, so don't worry. You can try focusing all party members on a single enemy at a time to eliminate them one by one (less enemies = less damage). If you have a mage with the firestorm spell, you can also use that to damage several enemies at once. In my experience, it took a bit of luck and a few retries to win, so don't give up. :)
