I came across Inquisition first, and played it through to Trespasser, romancing Solas. This video convinced me that I should play the rest of Dragon Age. Part of me wishes I could have played the games in order, for I will not be able to shake the feeling of everything just being... wrong, after what I know from Trespasser. And...every reason else related to Solas. This writing and emotional investment is more than extraordinary, Bioware.

Mod-ed Merrill looks great! I just wish they'd thought to hire Welsh voice actors this early on; the accent adds a distinct layer of otherworldliness and exoticness that I'm missing from the Dalish in DAO.

They allow Grey Wardens to conscript people from the Dalish, Orzamar, the Circle of Magi, and ofc humans from all over--but really only when there's a Blight or, in this case, a massive darkspawn horde. They can do it when a Blight isn't a threat, but it isn't exactly looked highly upon.

i miss these full conversations you used to be able to have with companions and others. don't get me wrong, i like the other games, but it feels like moments pass so quickly. i don't really feel like i know anyone, until the very end. plus, it's always cool when characters ask about *you* it makes the character feel more real and round because you get to make up extra details you may have not thought to make up beforehand.

The Dalish Elf Origins is my favorite Origin next to the Dwarf Noble, City Elf and Mage Origins. In fact, the Elves are always my favorite race next to the Qunari. Something about exploring the forest always reminds me of how I would always wonder around the forest back in New Jersey.

I don't see anyone talking about Inquisition so I'll start the conversation. I think it's fascinating noticing these little details about the ruins that tie into what you learn about ancient elves from Solas. The elvish writing, the ruins dating back to the time of arlathan built by humans for elves (probably human slaves), the eluvian hiding away in these ruins protected by demons. Tamlen says that the statue in the ruins depicted one of the "old gods" and that he "wasn't evil like fen'harel" which we now know to be propoganda, I'm guessing the dude was really evil and probably lurking in the eluvian that made tamlen and the hero sick. The fact that darkspawn blood was needed to cure the warden is fascinating because darkspawn are tied to archedemons which are old gods. Also the ruins were filled with bones, Tamlen suggested that no one was left to bury them, maybe because of what Solas did.

Fen’harel isn’t inherently evil. Both he and Mythal went against the Eluvanuris status quo which led to the murder of Mythal, which also led to the imprisonment of those responsible. Those chain of events created the Veil and also led the Imperium to rise. In fact, it was the Temple Guard Cpt who said specifically that the Imperium scavenged what was left and claimed it their own as conquest. Solas also said it was a mistake to create the Veil because it wasn’t natural. So if every arch demon was one of the old Elvhen “Gods,” that means Solas is trying to also end the blights but unfortunately is just as destructive and with that we have an anti hero.

Ehh to an extent. One thing to remember is that unlike the Dalish the Scoia'Tael are an inherently violent organization. The Dalish are an elven subculture predominantly concerned with preserving what remains of elven traditions. The Scoia'Tael are a *vicious* guerilla organization, particularly in the books. They're no better or worse than any other faction in the Witcher, but this being the Witcher, the Scoia'Tael do a lot of really horrible things that would turn even the most vicious dalish clans' stomachs. Like lathering someone's face in honey and then burying them up to their necks by an anthill to encourage them to talk. There's a reason the Scoia'Tael are controversial even among nonhumans in universe.

I can't be exactly sure, but snooping around I found the exact hair. It's called More Hairstyles by kzelsama. I found an Elf Male Preset mod by Pedro Nuno that looks decently close to the facial structure, just with the hair and skin modified. Both are on Nexus. Hope this helps.

I enjoyed the heck out of Dragon Age: Origins and Awakening but had no desire to touch DA2. It wasn't necessarily for the different combat system or single race protagonist, though the latter was a big con. What really turned me off was the new presentation of the elves and Qunari. In Origins the elves, dwarves, humans, and Qunari looked fairly similar except for general height and girth with more subtle physical attributes (pointed ears and bronze skin). The moderate differences between the races made them more personable despite their racial conflict, like they could share the same distant progenitor. It gave the Dragon Age universe a more gritty or grounded feel compared to more fantastical franchises with orcs, lizard men, and cat people or dark / high / wood / night / blood elves. Come DA2 you had a big tonal shift with exotic-sounding Na'vi-looking elves and horned beastly Qunari. Even though I was interested in returning characters - Anders and Merrill - their characterization was likewise at odds with how they presented in Origins and Awakening. While the racial and character changes obviously appealed to some fans, I found them too obnoxious to overlook and felt that they made Dragon Age more generic.

Louis Muhawij I’m sorry but I disagree on the Qunari sten even hinted this when you talk to him about his sword and shows Qunari will not return until their objective or whatever their mission is completed. I’m not surprised the arishok stayed in Kirkwall after all seeing as if he returned to Kirkwall without the tome it would be bad Ik what happens in dragon age inquisition sten becomes the new arishok but Qunari were much more expanded on.
