I have a love and fascination for world building and story telling, which is why Dragon Age is one of my favorite gaming series. Despite the many complaints and frustration with Bio-Ware and a new game, I still love the world. It feels very alive and realistic, and I think the writing team did a very good job. I hope the team for Dreadwolf does a good job expanding on the world and history. You did a great job on this video, and I can't wait to binge the rest!

14:19 i'm sure that someone must have already commented this, but to anyone who didn't know, Thedas literally means THE Dragon Age Setting, meant to be a placeholder during development but nothing else ended up sticking

I absolutely love this!!! I’ve been listening to fictional history lessons to help me wind down to sleep and this was everything I needed. Also, has anyone ever told you you sound a lot like Solas? I mean this in the best way, but it made me smile imagining Solas enthusiastically explaining the human known history of Thedas. This is the first of the videos I’ve seen of yours so I’m really hoping there is or will be more! I’m dying to know the history of the exalted plains or emerald graves- especially the elvhen influences thereof

Thank you very much for the kind words, and Im glad it has helped wind down! I take sounding like Solas as a huge compliment :D . If you wanna watch more there is a second vid on the channel about the chronology of Thedas, and hopefully during the coming week I will get a new vid up. If you like elven lore then you are in for a treat with the coming vid, is all Im saying :D - Professor Absalom.

The thing is. I really want to know more about the Kosith. Is it true that they are actually elvhen creation gone wrong? I really want to know more 😩
@theidajawho3 жыл бұрын
We don't really know the Qunari are Kossith, the horned tall folk we call Qunari are "Followers of the Qun" by definition. Corypheus says they were a mistake, maybe the Kossith created these folk mixing with Dragon Blood (as per Iron Bull and Cole). Putting that definitive label on them may be premature. The Humans and Dwarves that are part or conquered by them also call themselves Qunari. Truth is we know not what the Kossith were/are? ("The ones across the sea"???)
@loreuniversity8953 жыл бұрын
It is stated in The World of Thedas vol 1 that "the horned race's ancient name is 'kossith'". But a lot of information has come out since that book was released, as you correctly state. The kossith might be the ancient equivalent of the race that most people now call qunari, and qunari is more of a religious denomination than a race-specific one. I will use the word more carefully in my future videos, thank you for the feed-back. :)

First of all, great video as always dude. Secondly, exactly WHY are there absolutely NO depictions of the OTHER Continents on the world that Thedas is on? And for that matter, exactly WHY is there absolutely NO depiction of the Continent of Thedas in it's ENTIRETY? The ONLY depictions of Thedas shown are from a very limited and narrow viewpoint. There's absolutely NO mention of landmasses/continents from the Qunari viewpoint; NO mention of the continents/landmasses (OTHER than a VAGUE reference, and even then ONLY to say something along the lines that Humans came from BEYOND the borders of the 'Known World) from where Humans originally came from; absolutely NO mention of the landmasses/continents BEYOND the 'known world' that the Dwarves might have encountered. And this INCLUDES the parts of the continent of Thedas that are BEYOND the areas of the map that simply stop at mountain ranges. Are we expected to believe that the ENTIRE WORLD that Thedas exists in is comprised SOLELY upon the landmasses/regions depicted on maps, and that absolutely NOTHING else exists (including land areas of Thedas that are BEYOND several different mountain ranges? Just needed to ask that question, simply because I personally haven't seen comments from ANYONE else who has the INTELLECT to actually ask those questions.

I've very content that I'm not the only DA nerd that reads too much into the lore. I'm looking for Dragon Age fans that are knowledgeable and inspired by the lore to help me put together a simplified version of a "history book/bible" of Thedas (and unkown regions) and the events that took place from what may be the beginning (what we know from the actual origin) up to Inquisition and expand in theories of what's coming, from our understanding of each character's personality and ideals of each group within this world. Please let me know, if you're interested.

The games have a lot of lore but it is disseminated terribly. Walls of text that only tell you one unimportant thing.
