I'm 41 years old and have been obsessed since a young child. There is not a day that goes by that I don't watch something DragonBall related. He has been such a huge part of my life. I grew up dirt poor and he gave me something to look forward to when I got home from school. My dog is a 14 yr old siberian husky named Broly and my cat is beerus. His contributions to the world will be remembered till the end of time. Thank you for the awesome tribute...

To people confused about their grief. The passing of someone like Toriyama is a unique kind of grief. 99% of us never met him and yet he changed our lives. I’ve already seen people saying don’t be sad Dragon ball will keep going. But it’s not the franchise itself that changes our lives it’s the vision of this one man. It will be hard for anyone outside the fandom to understand what it’s like but don’t be afraid to grieve, don’t think you shouldn’t because you didn’t know him. Dragon ball helped me have so many experiences and meet people and have hype community reactions but it was also there in moments with just me. Those are the moments coming to mind right now, quiet moments alone with this series. For me is was watching Goku go super Saiyan 3 before all my sport matches to hype me up. And it was playing kakarot after a bad breakup, small moments that no one will know about that’s what’s hitting me the hardest. This kind of grief also gives us a community to help each other out through this process, if you’re a new or old dragon ball fan we are all feeling the same thing and we can all be there for each other through this

I am 54 and Dragon Ball has been in my life for 40 years. When I got the news I almost fell to my knees. I could only go 'no no no no'. I was just about to make the first break of the day and the reward was to sit and watch Dragon Ball while having a coffee. I just cannot cope with the pain and sadness. So much joy and inspiration and company. Reading the manga, watching the anime, playing the games, the toys, the posters, the pictures, the tshirts, the the the. Daily Dragon Ball in any form has been my life always. I really feel a massive loss. As if losing a loved one which is the truth. I have lost someone that has been a part of my life. Yes the art remains, forever. But why so soon, why this year. The year to celebrate the 40th anniversary. And we lose him on Saiyan month, on day 1 of Saiyan month.

Mercy, friendship, the importance of good in the world, forgiveness, facing your fears, and destroying personal limits. Akira Toriyama Sensei.... you got me thru a rough childhood, and are currently helping me still with adulthood. When the news broke, I actually cried. Felt like a chapter of my life was over. You got my thru most of my life as it is now. Helping me forget about work, money, life. Just sit down with a beer and some munchies, smoke one, and watch any DB, to forget for just a bit. Myself like many fans out there are mourning in there own way. I feel like I lost a best friend... one I've never met in person or spoke to, they say "not all heros wear capes" fine example right here. Met many friendly and happy people in public wearing my DB shirts. "OH HEY THATS GOKU UNTRA INSTINCT." Or when I wear my Vegeta shirt "yo that shirt if fire man. Vegeta all the way" people i know nothing about and have never met."what's your favorite ark?" It brings us together. No hate. Just love for your stories, characters. You're practically immortal now lol. Someone says "Akira Toriyama" and now people are hearing the name. Even heard someone at my work say "goku's creator died..... now what?" It was 2010 back when I was 4 years old, my mom was running late for work and put a random cartoon on tv, she told me to sit still for a few hours till she returned, I then saw super saiyan goku holding his chest because of the heart virus, and that caught my eye. Ever since then I fell in love with the series.

It absolutely broke my heart to see One Piece fans of all people on Twitter/X disrespect Toriyama yesterday. Either they don't realize One Piece wouldn't even exist without Dragon ball, or they're just soulless and stupid beyond saving. RIP Akira Toriyama! A huge amount of people who appreciate anime, And watch anime have no idea how influential and innovative Akira Toriyama was. It's very sad, A lot of people don't even give DB a chance because of the "Mainstream" Popularity of it. Yet its by far the best anime at least shonen ever created.

Rest in Power to an absolute Legend. A True Dragon Warrior and an influencer of many people worldwide. As you said, his actions-being able to sit down and draw the things we love, fight over, and admire-open a door for many to pursue their goals and dreams-that's a man worth remembering. A man who kept the FIRE going, a man who touched our hearts, made us cry, laugh, and rage, and inspired us to push forward in the face of adversity! THAT IS Akira Toriyama. *May he live forever In our Hearts*

I grew up being so inspired by Dragonball, Toriyama gave me the hope that maybe one day I could actually make my own stories. But... I lack any artistic talent, I am trying now and haven been for several months but never was able to fully commit to attempting a path in Manga. Cuz it scares me how others would perceive any stories I write. But... Hearing that he passed on tore at me... Like my heart was ripped from my soul yesterday. Despite that... I wanna honor the feeling Toriyama gave me when I was so young. I doubt i'd ever be successful in my endeavor but I wanna do my damndest regardless. I wanna give that same inspiration to others the same way Toriyama did. Thank you Toriyama.. For a childhood full of memories. And I hope that as an adult I can spread that love and passion you had to others. Rest in Peace.
