0:33 It 100% does. Actually, not spoiler about any of the Saiyan lore, but just know that before any of that happened and before Toriyama ever thought of that, he was just inspired by the werewolf

22:16 "I never thought life could be such a neat adventure!" This is so cute considering he never went outside of the woods he lived in his whole life, you can tell how his life was changed forever after meeting Bulma.

Yamcha overcoming his fear of women at the end of the episode is the equivalent of "-I'm sad. +Just stop being sad then. -Ok, thanks!". Specially in the manga, in which the scene of him having to carry Bulma despite his fear doesen't exist. Genuinely such a great addition from the anime. Really well done.

20:21 Actual dialogue: -What about you, Oolong? +Well, I dunno... are there many girls in the city? -A lot! And surely one of them likes a perv like you. -"A lot" was enough!

16:30 "So what's the deal? Is Goku some kind of alien?" Funniest line of dialogue ever considering this is 100% not foreshadowing at all and something Toriyama just made him say as a little joke comment.

Goku being motivated by himself to train because "someone" destroyed the castle just like that is so funny

Dragon Ball was originally a gag manga, as I'm sure you can see, and this episode here (at least in the manga) was the original planned end point for the series. It's crazy to think a series this iconic could've ended right here if Toriyama didn't get the idea to turn it into a battle oriented series down the line.

In the manga the Pilaf group just escapes in the plaine but Big Ape Goku throws a part of the castle at them like he does at 10:21. Kinda funny how the filler seems to follow this structure of interrupting something the characters were doing to put made up stuff and then take them back to the same situation they were before lol. It's cool that the it added a King Kong reference though. And the "at least my head doesen't hurt" *BONK* made it genuinely funnier than the manga, which just had them in the ground with the classic burns and damaged clothes as the punchline

2:13 The good thing about Dragon Ball art style change is that (except for Super which obviously changes quite a bit since you go from the 90's to the 2010's) it never really changes all of a sudden. Unlike JoJo which was a stylistical choice, this is genuinely technology developing as the series progresses, so it's pretty progressive. And thankfully I think there's not any design change as big as One Piece timeskip

5:13 essentially yeah, other characters come in and become important. Except Bulma. Bulma is always a core player holding the db universe together

If they ever do a remake of Dragon Ball, I'd love if they made the first arc of searching for the Dragon Balls longer. It's something pretty iconic for the whole series and it's kind of a shame it lasts so little, specially with how this could feel like a more emotional goodbye if it was longer. I'd love a whole season just of this. Though it's a shame that now that Toriyama's gone, even if they do that we'll never get the new ideas for little adventures and extending the story from Toriyama's own mind, but I think it would still be cool. Anyways, this is a major turn point for the series now that Goku is actively searching to train. Can't wait to continue!
