As an RTS guy stepping outside my comfort zone, I have no idea how to play a fighting game. This is one of the first videos that has been actually helpful in developing skills. The presentation of a concept, how to execute it, and most importantly, how to actually practice it, is invaluable. Thanks!

This is perfect, it’s exactly what I was looking for. Can you do one on defence and when to know it’s your turn instead of just sitting there and blocking everything? Thanks in advance

Ace Hatake just look for your opening
@jesim.89636 жыл бұрын
Most characters will be open after their ki ender. From here, it's a guessing game because your opponent can beam, assist, dragon rush, super dash, or continue raw pressure. Reflect will get you out of most of these except dragon rush. Your turn will usually start when your opponent runs out of assists, beams, or backs off/starts blocking.

It's funny how most of the new players, including myself when I started, go in and start grinding flashy combos, but without knowing how to convert into them struggle when it comes to opponents with a slightest idea of defense. Great video!

My biggest weakness is that I always forget to use assists. This is my first fighter that isn't a 1v1 so I always forget about it when I know that I could cover whiffed heavies and stuff like that with it. I have 200,000 points in ranked, not sure if that's good or not, but I have noticed that now that I'm getting up in the ranks I'm getting people who actually use assists and it adds so much utility. I just wish you could choose what their assist was because I love Android 18 but her assist seems like it kinda sucks lol
@YeemRAG6 жыл бұрын
At this point I'd just try to force yourself to use assists even if it might end up losing you some matches, just to create a habit.
@FrostyTheSwoleman6 жыл бұрын
Her assist is pretty good it is pretty much a get out of jail free card or you can use it to bait/punish buttons. The why i play is i just think of assist as an extra move for whatever character is in. It's like P4A where you have your persona your persona i choose to look at as an option with a health bar when the health bar is depleted that option is gone.
@FrostyTheSwoleman6 жыл бұрын
zeokenX that's wrong just because a character can combo well by themselves doesn't mean you don't use assist. Assist are for more than comboing theh are for setups, neutral, to neutralize opponent's options your character has issues with, etc what you are stating is just from a perspective of someone who doesn't understand the game yet. Don't gravitate towards one person to watch yogaflames channel he sets up replays from several high level people. P.S just because someone combos well doesn't make them good at a fighting game. Combos are easy they never change once you got a hit the opponent is the same as the dummy. getting the hit, reading, and responding to your opponent is the hard part

if you haven't beaten it already, my suggestion is to practice a lot, and learn to at least manual combo , so you can get s rank in the first two arcade modes. The last one requires more skill, so master the manual combo and learn to defend well and read what the AI attempts to do. once you do, you'll be able to s rank the last one. obviously, there is much more things to learn, but im highlighting the main things you should learn (well, what i learned) to reach s rank.

There's not actually a natural gap between the ki blast and Kamehameha. After a ki blast hits on block, you are allowed to instantly counter. So I don't recommend constant use of ki blast for an ender b/c you opponent might start blowing you up for it

the quick jump dash heavy is pretty tough for me to get down
@suprqt6 жыл бұрын
Make sure you are pressing up/forward, and then forward. Because when you're pushing the stick in a north-eastern direction, the game actually recognizes it as you pressing both up and forward at the same time. So the jump forward counts as your first forward directional input, and then the forward you press in the air is the second directional input.

I bought this game yesterday and as a defensive/punish based player in other fighting games, Dragon ball is a nightmare! Defense isn't rewarded because offense is reeeally safe!! All normal strings can be made safe, overheads are safe, vanish is safe, super dash safe on block, point blank Kamehameha safe, many random super are safe cuz they push you really far away...damn Edit : also where the hell is the frame data....

How do you find out if a move is positive or negative on block? Just playing and figuring it out?
@Huggie02Roblox6 жыл бұрын
UnderUrShadow you need to look up the frame data
@Rhannmah6 жыл бұрын
Since the official frame data hasn't been released yet, one way to test this is to set the training dummy to all guard and jump. That way, they'll try to jump as soon as blockstun from an attack is over. You then try to hit them with an attack, and immediately try to jump (since you can't jump cancel attacks on block in this game), when the attack is over you'll jump. If you see yourself jumping before they do, you're + on block, and if they jump first, you're - on block.
