As someone who has Rosé at 5 stars through saved up z-power, my biggest gripe is that it's difficult for him to empty his gauge. If he could just deplete it by landing his next attack, or if he could consistently draw green cards through his passives, or even just draw a green on transformation, it'd help his survivability as a defense unit. In matches where I've used greens and blues over and over again, the repeated healing and disruption makes for an insanely durable unit. But in matches where I either can't draw many blues or greens, or simply can't land enough of them, it really hurts him, which brings me to my next point. One thing that bothers me personally is that his green card is a long range card. Normally, they're great, but for Rosé who wants to reuse his gauge, this means that you have to land the attack or else Rosé is a sitting duck because the green doesn't have a fast animation.

I feel like this Goku Black is a very good unit if you can keep resetting his unique gauge. If you get stuck unable to reset the gauge though, then he doesn’t seem like anything special to be honest. There’s times where he looks amazing and does a lot in the match but others where he’s very underwhelming. Personally, I really like him though. Good defense type if he can reset the gauge over and over again but a bad defense type if he’s unable to reset the gauge

Yeah there is no consistency. Revival Nappa and Pikkon also have Vegeta and Gogeta tags. Black cannot be optimised on a god ki team because he cannot use god ki equips and cannot receive god ki z abilities until he transforms. So basically it is not advised to use him on god ki even tho he buffs it with his z ability.

I get what people are saying with this goku black. He should’ve been a bit better, and of course the vegito unit is better than him 😭. But even with all of that, I think a lot of people are gonna severely underestimate him. Just because he is not top 3 doesn’t mean he’s bad. A lot of these KZbinrs like goresh who play this game nonstop and go against the top teams are not good for the average player to decide who’s gonna be good for them. I'm not even talking about best units or meta teams, but he's supposed to be one of the headliners of the most important/second most important celebration in the entire game, and for him to be poorly designed like this makes no sense. He's not even top three, and I personally wouldn't even put him anywhere close to top 5. He has issues resetting his gauge, he doesn't really tank well for a defense type, he doesn't have the greatest damage, his counter doesn't lock mains or rushes, his transformed green only draws one card, he doesn't have blast armor. I dunno, he's not BAD per sé, but he's not great either, and he's supposed to be the core of the future team, alongside Vegito. I guess 'enjoying the units you like' is fine, but I can't really say you'll enjoy using Goku Black and getting stomped by other units who can actually fulfill the roles they're supposed to fulfill.

TLDR: Goku Black's gauge feels like it was designed without thinking about the combo capabilities of meta relevant units, most importantly his fellow headliner who has very easy access to double card draw, card destruction and ki reduction nullification as well as the anti combo breaker effect. Vegito can really just power through Goku Black's gauge activating and casually keep going without much struggle which is the exact opposite of what a brand new defensive unit should be doing. I think locking the gauge reset behind using a green or a blue was a mistake and it really hurts the character. My take on this Goku Black, as a person who's only fought against him, is that he honestly just looks like a weaker Tree of Might Goku. Goresh talked about his similarities to Super Baby 2 which is fair as well but in terms of meta relevancy I feel like it makes a bit more sense to compare him to ToM Goku considering how closely they overlap in terms of abilities. Both have a more defensively leaning kit with the exact same style of defensive gauge which needs you to take hits for anything to happen. Now one thing Goku Black has over ToM Goku is the simple fact he has endurance on top of buff cancelling but other than that it feels like he's just more awkwardly designed. The gauge feels like a major issue more than anything since it's the source of his healing and disruption but for some odd reason he needs to use a green or a blue in order to consume the gauge. For Super Baby it was a bit more understandable considering he even had vanish gauge removal when his gauge activated on top of the fact that he had an optional lock in ult that could be used with a full gauge. Meanwhile on the other hand Goku Black has this new anti cover change debuff but like Goresh said in the ability breakdown, most competent units these days have very easy access to cover null which makes this new ability borderline useless for most characters. Admittedly a good player can take advantage of this debuff to get better use out of characters like Zenkai CMZ or Zenkai Kid Buu who both have very limited instances of cover null in their kit but I can't really say that's enough value for a headlining LF character for Legends Fest 2024. Overall Goku Black feels like a failed combination of trying to give a defensive character an extra offensive edge but both sides of the kit encounter problems that are hard to ignore. It's like he's a version of ToM Goku with less disrupt and a version of Super Baby 2 without any sniping capabilities which really makes no sense since he released after both. A gauge meant to disrupt that can only trigger once in an enemies combo when they just released a combo demon alongside him who is very easily capable of continuing a combo right through the gauge activation like it was seen in this video gives the impression that they didn't bother playtesting him against most meta units.

Sometimes a type neutral rush can’t even activate rose’s endurance which is good. But overall it’s a pain in the ass to try to reset his gauge and stopping combos.

I believe in Rose. He has access to one of the most premium bench buffers in YEL Broly. His damage is pretty solid and post transformation alongside his extreme bleed there's a lot of value. His post transformation green is fantastic as a long range green (we know it's value since Tree of Might Goku's debut) and then we see other intangibles like his cover removal. Goresh states that it sets a bad precedent with units that are top tier and premium having oodles and boodles of it, but in that there's a missing factor: that debuff lasts for 15 counts, every unit in the game has up to at least 10 (excluding weird older units) and it gives you the leniency to string combos together for a longer period of time or for units that have worse cover null effects--as well as breathing new life into older units that are still solid but lack good effects or long lasting effect (UL Rose (in this current climate) Yamcha, and other units) and it allows them to just keep going without fear of being cover changed. Goku Black isn't our glorious BLACK king, but he is NOT awful

Lots of the value I got from Goku Black was building him defensively and Special Move damage, like with the new Unique/ Awakened equips. Defensively he’s a bit lackluster with not lots of disrupt, he seems to have a lot more value taking big damage from blues, ults, and taking rush with his endurance, cover change debuffs, and healing after a combo ends. Will still say boost is hard carrying him tho and I have him with zenkai’d YEL Broly and FP Frieza haha

Honestly if they wanted him to be more a defensive unit he should have indestructible instead of endurance and at least apply more debuffs like buff the negative arts power so at the very least he won't rely on his unique gauge most of the time

If they really wanted to make this guy on the same level as vb, they would have made him regain endurance on transformation and have him force draw a green on gauge proc AND made his vanish restore on green unlimited times in rose

I think they should have made him draw a green/blue after being combo'd or when the Guage is filled but they'll probably add it to his unique equipment😢

@@limptoastgoresh built him wrong with this showcase. he’s primarily a defensive character and he gave him an offensive setup. not to mention that he has no zenkai buffs(yellow broly being an hp zenkai buffer helps). also the only real issue is the gauge not consistently resetting, which is an issue, but it isn’t nearly as big as people are making it seem

That 3rd Equipment - he doesn't get pure part from Vegeta Clan. There needs to be BOTH future and vegeta clan unit for it to work. And FGB is not on future. Long time ago I tested it on a Pikkon Equipment to confirm how it works.

The biggest issue with this unit is that his gauge doesn’t reset. it should’ve reset just as soon as it fills up like SB2/Tree of Might Goku and make the no special cover change mechanic debuff only proc after the first gauge but he keeps the card destruction and Ki reduction permanently. we’ve seen how good that is with Tree of Might Goku, a monthly LF, so I don’t see why would it be so hard for them to give it to a big celebration headliner..

im hoping we see either an emergency buff or a unique equipment...if hes barely holding on as a festival leading unit in his own release meta then they need something immediately. they cant just let this slide and expect us not to notice. personally i dont want an equip. id rather have an emergency buff because the equip wont age as well as a patched buff. they need to learn from their mistakes asap

After using my 4 star one a lot against the best unit in the game. He's extremely good. He's getting hate just because VB is absolutely busted and he's more fair. He has annoying flaws that are annoying more than anything but he's still really good. I think the thing is though that you want to run him with Turles to draw green cards to reset your gauge

I summoned for him and got him to 7 star with about 12k CC and although Zamasu is my favorite character (also counting gb in a way) no amount of copium can convince me he certainly has some issues. Just hoping the p3 ultra is Fusing Zamasu but currently im not expecting to get him either way.

My real issue is he has the gauge that only resets upon landing the blue or green card. If they didn’t want to give him the treee of might goku gauge the very minimum it should have been upon using the card whether it lands or not it should reset the gauge

I have absolutely no idea why they didn't make his gauge reset when being hit by an enemy's attack. In the anime Goku Black took damage only to come out stronger so why didn't they give him a gauge that resets constantly and gives him permanent buffs whenever it gets filled up?

Tbh they really shot themselfs in the foot by not having rosé draw greens when the gauge procs , also his green should have been a stop time so you can just use it to reset the gauge. As it is you cant use his special mecanic most of the time. They also can kinda fix him by giving rosé cover change prevention on his green so at least you can use his mecanic more often.

I’m having an issue with his 1x card draw speed and lack of ways to get cards. Also his counter green not locking mains is a major problem. You should be rewarded with an easy combo but you have to tackle because the opponent can still rush or main giving them ki and possibly an ultimate to use.

Rose not going neutral on transformation is crazy 😂. Make his blue go neutral and if they made his gauge reset on switch when full like ultra frieza. He could have been very good

I hope it ain't just me, but doesn't it look like he's the most "rushed" one out of the 4? Vb has (basically) the best ability in the game for now. Cell and Frieza are Mafuba Roshi on steroids. And Mai is an absolute MV Shredder. And Black is just Future/God Ki SB2, but feels overwhelming. Like damn, he's a festival unit. He has decent tanking, pretty solid damage overall, but he really doesn't do well against red units, i feel like they planned something else for his mechanic, but decided not to add it, probably because of future releases.
