Just subbed! I just platinumed Astrobot at 3am...ininstalled both Silent hill 2 remake an Metaphor this morning...no idea what to play next lol! I am buying Mario Party Jamboree and Dragon Ball Sparking Zero this Friday! Call of duty black ops 6 th following week!

legit question, when you installed Metaphor did it require a download or was all of the game contents on the disc? I'm referring to core game, I'm aware that the update patches don't come on the disc. thanks

Im pretty sure unlike nintendo games, all playstation games require downloads from the disc and the disc itself doesn't include the game, so far all of my games require downloads for my ps5 even with discs.

@@piewy2196 interesting, it's almost been the complete opposite for me. I think all of my physical copies are entirely contained on the disc excl patches and DLC.

@party_boy69 I could be wrong tho, the discs might contain some of the game's files for download but I don't think they run off the discs.

@@piewy2196 This is both correct and incorrect.. Metaphor, and most PS5 games (including all of Sony's first party titles) can be played on a PS5 that is not and has never been connected to the internet. Obviously the experience will often be worse cause you will miss update patches that include bug fixes. But internet connection is not required to run the game. You can test this yourself, disconnect your PS5 from the internet, put in a game you do not have installed, and then play it. It will work with the exception of some multiplayer games and some very rare cases of single player games (like the spyro trilogy only including the first game on disc). But you are correct that the game downloads off the disc, then plays off of the SSD inside of the PS5. It does not play off the disc. So where you are incorrect is saying the disc does not include the game, that is false. Otherwise what would it be downloading off of the disc?

You can play the game totally offline, having never connected to the internet. I have done it, I can confirm it works.
