Now that we've finally gotten to Universe 6, there's another funny naming convention that's slowly making itself known. Take a real good look at the names of the two destroyer gods and their attendents... *Beer*-us. *Whis*-ky *Champa*-gne Cal-*Vados* Yup, attendants and destroyers are named after alcohol. Never change Dragon Ball, never change.

Something more fun was that Toriyama was working with a previously established idea. Toriyama was not expected to work on the next Dragon Ball movie so close. The original plot was an enemy called Virus that would infect the heroes minds and make them evil. Toriyama saw the concept and changed it completely to what we know as Battle of Gods. Toriyama took the name Virus (Bee-ru-su) in turned into Beerus (Bee-ru-su). Toriyama was always a master of puns.

Since Champa and Beerus are brothers are they orginally from the same universe and which is it number 7 or 6. I wonder how a person becomes a God in another Universe.

Gods in Dragon Ball are roles, maybe Beerus and Champa both compete to be the god of destruction of one universe, then the loser went to the universe's counterpart and managed to succeed there.

I’d say with universe 6 & 7 being very similar, beerus and champa aren’t actually “brothers”, I’d say more like two sides of the same coin.
