There are many fan theories about this form as the creator never explained it, personally, to me and many fan theorists, This form is fusion of Super Saiyan + Divine energy (he got from being near with Beerus, whiz, Goku and Vegeta) + Great ape form(if u remember vegeta turning one in early DBZA) in humanoid body + trunks' hybrid potential.

Also, I think I disagree with Third Grade SSJ + Blue but, it's more likely SSJ2 (considering the lightning) + traces of God ki, which somehow made him bulkier as he doesn't know how to actually use the God Ki. Maybe something rubbed off on him through the training of Kais.

I was getting a little anxious an episode reaction or two ago because I was sure that the reveal about Zamasu's switching bodies was coming, lol; when I first saw that, I got chills just from the dark element to it. Like you said, it's Chichi and Goten being killed by who they thought was their husband and dad, and Goku being killed by his own body; we saw body-swapping happen before with Ginyu, but this was on a different level (also helped by how Marsters and Schemmel nailed playing each other's roles in that scene [that didn't happen when Ginyu and Goku switched]). Goku's rage after that and the subsequent beatdown were so cathartic after that. Trunks's Super Saiyan Rage form there was also interesting to see. Also, your doggo makes the end bits so fun to watch 😂

I like this episode a lot. It shows while Goku can be a very kind and forgiving person, he can still be very vengeful when given a reason. A similar scenario was when Frieza killed Krillin right in front of Goku. Goku started growling and with all his anger and hate he told Frieza, "I'm going to make you suffer!"

So lets break it down. We have 3 Zamasus. Present Zamasu aka the Zamasu we followed in the story who was erased by Beerus. Goku black who is that same Zamasu who succseeded in killing Gowasu and stealing Gokus body then killing Chi Chi and Gotenks. Future Zamasu who is the Zamasu of the future timeline who never met Goku and thus wasen't radicalized enough until Goku black came and murderd Future Gowasu and getting him in on the plan. Tecknically speaking they are correct in that if Future Trunks didn't save Goku then he would not have been alive to eventually fight Zamasu and thus putting him on the path to become Goku black and starting everything. Of course with Future Zamasu we see that he didn't need much to go off the deep end but tecknically it is because of the time travel that this happend. We also have Future Zamasu and Goku black just bragging to Goku that they killed Chi Chi and Gotenks. Now since the have the zero mortals plan they would eventually die anyway but its pretty clear that this was done just to be petty because Zamasu lost a fight to Goku. Telling Goku this was basically just done so that Goku would beat upp Goku black so he could power upp since to a degree they where clearly throwing the fight for more power. Future Zamasu hates Goku for being a mortal using divine power so him specifically wanting to kill Goku is a sign to just how unbelibveably petty he is as he didn't even have any beef with Goku. When Goku black comes to the present it pretty clear that he didn't know where he was going so him saying you must be Goku makes sense because he assumes that this specifick Goku is a Goku. Because again he didn't know where he was so for all he knew this guy who looks like Goku could be anyone. Goku black killing all the future kais and by proxy all destroyers plus putting the angels out of commission would again be pretty hyppocritical but for Zamasu its punishment because as far as they belived the gods did nothing to stop the evil mortals and thus are evil by proxy of not stopping them. Plus they would also probably oppose the zero mortals plan so away with them. Both still see this as a necesary evil for the coming utopia for them as they are basically the only gods left. In this episode basically the whole sayan crew got absolutley stomped on but lets hope they recower from this. Also Zamasu is one step away from literaly fucking himself he is that narcisistic across timelines.

I really liked this episode in particular because of Trunks' new transformation. Years ago, because of DBZA, I got this idea that when Gohan went SSJ2 he would do so by analyzing the bulked up Super Saiyan form and either find a way to avoid that outcome, or basically find a way to do what Trunks did in this episode. It made me very happy to see something I had thought of myself get used, especially since I had dismissed the idea as being a bit too out there. Also, that line right before he transforms: "You say my choices make me evil...*then that's what I'll be!* " So cold. I love it.

I love watching you guys reaction videos. Great video, by the way; it probably has the best commentary that you and Bethany have done yet! I'm a super Anime fan, and especially fond of Dragonball, DBZ, and Dragonball Super too. I've NEVER noticed what Ken so brilliantly deduced, that one of the Zamasus never even met Goku! Since they never met, he should not have had any reason to resent Goku. Maybe they were from different universes? I don't think that either Zamasus are from the 7th universe, in fact; they may actually be from the 10th universe! I may be mistaken, but I'm not even sure if the 10th universe even competed in the Universal Tournament Arc? They may even have been one of those universes that was not required to participate; due to the number of Super-powered beings that exist in their universe.

And also, we have never seen a Hybrid Saiyan go SSJ3 before(I'm not counting Gotenks because it's fusion), so it's not really established for them at all. And again, we've seen other characters skip 3 entirely, Gohan for example jumped straight over 3 to Ultimate, which, using your logic above, is also an ass pull.

I have theories on why it does that, supreme Kai training or exposure to god ki or something, but it’s a lot less clear than most other saiyan forms cool as it is.

The official name for Trunks' new form is Super Saiyan Rage, and unfortunately, to this day, there's no real explanation on how he got it or why it differs from regular Super Saiyan. The general consensus is that Toei realized Trunks going toe to toe with Super Saiyan Blue level threats as a Super Saiyan 2 didn't make sense narratively, so he needed a power up to realistically compete.

Super Saiyan Rage amplifies the anger ability. It allows Future Trunks to gain more power than what a normal Saiyan gains when angry. As for the 2nd introduction of Zamasu, he was aware of Black's meeting and decided to act like he's the original/the one that fought Goku when they first met. In other words, they were keeping Black's identity as a secret as they are aware of time travel. The secret wasn't just kept for Goku, but for everyone else as well. It's also not explained much, but Black is ruining Goku's image by taking all the damage he's done as credit. Black & Zamasu did not plan to tell anyone in the first place, it wasn't until someone got an idea of their plan. Edit: The anime version of Black knows the whole history of Goku, is aware of all the characters in his story such as Hit, 17 & 18, Buu, knows all the Gods personally, and knows what happened in each time ring. Also, people say Black was scared of Beerus when he went into the past, but really, he wasn't worried at all since he knows how Beerus acts. Both weren't worried about each other. Beerus knew he's strong enough to kill him, and Black knew he can easily locate the Supreme Kais with Instant Transmission.

1. Goku Black was excited to fight Goku in Goku's body. He never got the chance to do that, when they finally met for the 1st time. He EASILY killed Goku in Zamasu's body and was EASILY beaten by Goku in his own body. Goku Black vs Goku is a much fairer fight. He actually gets his chance to face Goku on equal footing and put his plans in motion. That likey explains his endearing tone whe he 1st meets Goku as GOKU BLACK. 2. Goku Black likely explained to Zamasu that Goku was basically the cause of all of this. Which made Zamasu hate him, too. Explaining that Goku was a mortal who could easily beat him in battle probably upset the Zamasu Goku never met, up until that point. Just hearing about Goku was enough to set him off. Hearing your not-too-distant self describe the bane of your existence could make you angry at them too, even if you never met them.

I never found the logic in Goku Black’s origin. Zamasu became Goku black after he got beat by Goku, but Goku went there in the first place to find answers about Goku Black. Like… Goku Black was originated from the search for answers of an already existing Goku Black? Doesn’t make sense to me.

It's the ripple of time effect. Future Trunks timeline is 17 years in the future. Whatever he changes in the past doesn't affect his future but the future of that reality he went to, aka the one we follow. Goku Black is from a point in time ahead of our* reality. In that time, after Goku humiliated him but never returned there with Beerus, he was able to proceed with his plan.

I think the only problem with what they did here was make it a "form" for Trunks, because getting a power boost when angry is and has always been a part of Dragonball. Hell, Vegeta being moderately angry at Bulma getting slapped allowed him to get some hits on Beerus. The blue in the aura is really my only issue.

Trunks super saiyan is called super saiyan rage But it was baseless and had no real explanation to it It just a good hype to the situation

Lol it's not baseless at all. Rage and anger makes Saiyans stronger, that's been a fact since DBZ. Trunks had pushed SSJ2 to its utter limit by using it as often as he did (something the other Goku, Vegeta and Gohan didn't do in their timeline). Not only that but it's also been stated many times that Hybrid Saiyans are much stronger / naturally inclined towards increasing power. Trunks got a taste of God power fighting Vegeta and Goku and probably unconsciously adapted to it (again, something else Super mentions can happen). But here's the thing, he still gets his ass handed to him for the most part, even with the new form, so it's not like he's suddenly magically on par with everyone, he surprised them and got a few cheap hits in and lasted a little longer with increased durability, but it's not like he suddenly matched and beat everyone on the field

Project Zero Mortals I also see as a woopsie, because in Japanese they say "ningen", which means "human", because in Dragon Ball all sapient races are called humans (like Bulma and Vegeta are both humans, but one is an Earthling and the other a Saiyan) and we saw deities dying a lot of times now.

1. Friendly reminder that Goku Black confirmed that all this started cause he was salty he lost to Goku. He is petty *as hell* 2. People ,understandibly, have their problems with this arc, especially with the weirdly conveluted timey-wimey nonsense, but this episode is what REALLY sold people on Zamasu and Goku Black. 5:43 in particular is probably one of the most *cathartic* arse whoppings in all of Dragonball 3. Trunks's new form is honestly kind of a copout. It feels a little unearned.

6:25 enjoy this moment it's the closest to Z goku that we will ever get. Then super turned back into an idiot 😒 it's like they take the team four Star of Goku (someone who is meant for pure comedy) and merge him with the Main story. The problem with that is that's not Goku's character not even remotely close. If they were going for tfs Goku it would have been better received if they brought the entire cast over, that way everyone is giving off the same synergy. Anyway I hate dragon Ball super because of what they did to my favorite character (Goku)
