@dakiehamilton7261 devil Super Saiyan and Mirage grabbed him before he gave up all his power. And Zamasu has to make sure that the timeline doesn't become altered So really he didn't die at all! Mirage and Devil Super Saiyan got him first. He would have died and not existed in any reality if they didn't capture him but because of their own paranoia they inadvertently saved him.
