Some information about Tien's attack. The Kikōhō is more powerful than the Kamehameha, but has a serious drawback, that being that it draws on the users life-force as well as their Ki, which is why Tien died after using it on Nappa

Kikoho and Makankosappo are reallly, really powerful, but sadly they are unreliable(kikoho draining life-force, makankosappo needing quite some time to charge), Kamehameha has always been the "basic" technique for nearly every OG Z Fighter, in terms of reliability/power, Final Flash is Vegeta's version of Kamehameha, too bad Akira Toryiama is a terrible writer and forgot completely about Masenko(not even the die-hard fanboys can defend him after Buu and Super, lets be real)(I mean, Masenko is not the only thing he completely forgot about, he is so inconsistent that it became disgusting)

Tien deserved every glorious second of this. My first memory of him was how hard it was for him in the Saiyan saga back in the Kai series. A few years later and I stumbled across his first appearance the dragon ball manga at my local library. After getting to know him this moment didn’t even have to be abridged to give me the chills. And TFS must’ve felt that excitement and catharsis in order know how to do so much with it.

What you just described used to be one of Krillin's most attractive qualities; he was courageous as heck and would always put his life on the line to help, even if he knew he had no chance. Fun facts: 1.Semi-Perfect Cell was actually Toriyama's *favorite* form of Cell and wanted it to be around a touch longer. But, as is par for the course, his editors told him he looked silly and to just hurry up with his part of the arc 2. The Kikōhō is actually one of the more powerfull techniques in the series. Basically, instead of ki, it drains the user's life force to power it. Allowing Tien to actually, at least, inconvenience fighters *way* outside his league. Hell, we even see the bad outcome of this technique when Tien used it on Nappa and died because he was alredy on death's door.

Tien is my favorite character. For some of his history: he and Chiaotzu were students of Master Roshi’s rival and so they were antagonists to Goku through a sizable chunk of Dragonball. Tien actually beat Goku in the World Martial Arts Tournament finals (Goku then beat him in the semi finals of the next Tournament). When Goku started training with Kami, there’s a moment where all of Goku’s friends lament how much stronger he’s going to be than all of them and Tien’s response is, “then I just have to train harder.” Tien is still determined to surpass Goku and still views him as a rival, even though Goku has FAR surpassed what Tien is capable of. Tien reminds me of a quote from another anime character, Rider from Fate/Zero, “Glory lies beyond the horizon. Challenge it because it is unreachable.”

Unfortunately as time went by they mostly serve as stallers when Guko is not around and bystanders when he is. So, short version on who Tien is. Midway through Dragonball they have their second tournament arc, with Goku, Krillin, and Yamcha having trained under Master Roshi, the Turtle Hermit. In this tournament, we get entries from school led by Roshi's former friend, the Crane Hermit Shen. Shen's entries are Chiaotzu and his star pupil Tien. The Crane school is very focused on assassination techniques, dominating and brutalizing your opponents before finishing them off. Tien is all in on that philosophy, breaking Yamcha's leg. But later fights with a disguised Master Roshi and the finals against Goku get him to see the error of his ways. Tien and Chiaotzu part ways with their former teacher, rejecting Shen's philosophies. By the by, Chiaotzu faces off against Krillin, and Krillin won on account of being able to do basic arithmetic.

Fun fact, the thing Cell was doing with his lips at the start and end of the episode is called a "bi-labial trill". There are so many things I want to mention, but I feel they're too spoilery. I will say this, how many villains has Goku defeated so far? In the Saiyan saga Nappa was killed by Vegeta. Raditz was killed by Piccolo. In the Freeza Saga Vegeta got most of the villain kills from Qui to Dodoria and Zarbon. Even Freeza was ultimately defeated by himself when he used Krillin's Destructo Disc technique. In the Cell Saga so far, even Krillin gets a kill on Cell and Vegeta again gets 1 kill on the clown android. Trunks slices up King Cold and Freeza again and Cell kills Android 17 who at that point definitively still counts as a villain. When you think about it, Goku really doesn't get too many W's. He was even straight up killed by Piccolo at the very start of the Saiyan Saga when Piccolo fired his Sakkosam... Masakop.... Special Beam Cannon at Raditz and Goku behind Raditz.

Goku might not have kills, but most of the villains you listed were "defeated" by Goku. Raditz, Nappa, Vegeta, Recoome, Burter, Ginyu, and Frieza were all defeated by Goku (some with help) even if he didn't have the killing blow. Also, most of the movie villains are defeated by Goku. I get what you mean, but its still safe to say that Goku is usually the "closer" in the DBZ batting line-up.
