Thank you Paul, we could not have started without your generosity. Please check out Paul's YT channels, What plant is that Paul and Rare Dragon Fruit. His links has been added to several other videos. We received Quality cutting from Paul and they all rooted well and are thriving. We were even able to produce fruit on them at 7 months.

Yes it is. I have a friend that had 20 acres of Dragon fruits plants and he did the same for early production and sales. it works on new plants. of course once your plants are established you should tip for higher fruit production. Thank you and have a great week.

Yes, that bit about the branches getting too heavy and breaking near the top of the trellis at the inflection point is why tipping is recommended. That and the fact that from the cut, multiple new branches will grow. One thing that might be helpful is to not have a sharp edge on the trellis top. I'm just thinking if there's a way to provide a smoother, rounder surface when the branch turns downward. I don't really have any great ideas, but that may also be why some people use old motorcycle tires.

Yes they break and having a larger rounder base will help them from breaking. I will show you how to fix this on my next video so they dont break off. thank you for commenting and hope to see you back. Have a great week.

I have a dragon fruit plant that is growing all the way up a cabbage palm. It gave fruit but it didn’t last year. I’m new to your channel. I’m happy that I found you. Hoping I can learn and grow more fruits.

Jacqueline, I hope I can help. Have you pruned your plant. During the end of your colder season is best, If you can cut some of the tips on the older branches, this will help promote new branches or buds. You want them to hang over and downwards. Nitrogen deficiency can cause also slow growth, and a lack of phosphorus can hinder flower production. Good luck and I hope this helps and Thank you.

How do you keep them from freezing in the winter in TX? I live in the DFW area and thinking I might have to put them in the garage during the winter.

I lived in Carrollton, TX for a year or two. You will have to put them in your basement or garage to keep them warm. Do you have them in large pots. I will possibly move them into a garage.

Great video. I only tip if they are reaching the ground or started to grow new segment. If the branch is growing vigorously as 1 segment, I don't tip as you have done. By the way, what is your soil made of abd what fertilizer you using?

I farm and Ranch and have cattle. Our hay feed piles, I get the outer composted sand/soil from it. Compost cow manure. My older plants I use 13-13-13. It is a 90 day time release coated fertilizer. If you click on my channel Icon and look at my videos, I have a Video explaining what I use as the soil mix for my pots. Good luck and thank you.

My dragon fruit tree has fruits but the fruits brown and fall out or the buds turn yellow and dropped, too. May you let me know what should I need to to safe my dragon flowers or buds. Looking forward from your response. Thanks again
@TexasDragonFruit

There are many reasons flower fruit buds fall. Plant health, fertilization, clustered plants, youth of plants, Insects, heat, watering just so many reasons. Your plants want to survive and will drop as many flowers as needed to continue to grow. So keep an eye on feeding and watering them during budding. good luck.

What kind of fertilizer do you use

I credit my plant growth to the potting mix. I have been using our cattle hay dump piles of composted cow manure that has been composting for years. It has lots of sandy soil. I have only fed my plants once or twice since I potted them in the large pots. My new plants get about 4 oz. of 10-10-10 or 13-13-13 time release on the edge of the pots. This has helped with growth. Good luck and thank you for supporting us.

What do you feed your dragon fruit
@TexasDragonFruit
@TexasDragonFruit 2 ай бұрын
I feed them very little fertilizer as they are in a high composted cow manure potting mix. So I know urea is high at this point and I feed little phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) to promote budding as well. So I could say a formula of 13-13-13 but not much like half a cup around the outer base of the pot once every 90 days. You need to feed on your plants needs, I have new soil in my pots that has high urea so watch your urea amounts. If its growing fast add more phosphorus (P), and potassium (K) to help promote buds. Good luck, and Thank You.

I thought when the buds are yellow they are aborting
@TexasDragonFruit
@TexasDragonFruit 2 ай бұрын
Not during the initial sprout. they will turn yellowish mid way like a week or two later. I just returned from a trip to California, looking at Dragon fruit growers farms. This morning looking a my plants I seen a bad fruit bud yellow and I know it will fall off or I will pluck it off. Why did it fail, stress, waster, heat, insects, Its hard to tell why but the plants will shed them to provide for itself. Thank you and have a great week.
