I used to have a big Bowie like knife and I loved it. I used to play with it tossing it back and forth. I did it so much I didn't even have to look at it while I played with it. My boyfriend sharpened it for me and it was as sharp as a razor. One evening while I was visiting my boyfriend some teenagers came over. One was fascinated by me playing with my knife and wanted to hold it. I warned him it was very sharp. But him being a baby man he thought I was a stupid girl. Yeah. I let him hold my knife. He decided that he could do anything a girl could do and even better. He started tossing my knife like he had seen me do and guess what happened? Yep. He sliced himself up real good. Dufus. I have been handling knives and other sharp objects since I was 7. He thought he could. He was so outraged I could do something he couldn't. Well, I did warn him it was razor sharp. They don't teach kids much these days. That's a shame. My grandson got his first knife when he was about 5. It was an Arkansas toothpick. My boyfriend, his grandpa, made it. He also was given a sword by his grandpa. My grandson was so happy. Ever since he was a little boy he had a toy sword of some kind, usually wood or plastic. And he would put it down his back under his shirt, like he had a sheath on his back. So cute. He understood a real knife and sword were meant to be handled carefully. They were put up on the wall as a display until he got old enough. He loved knives and swords just like his grandpa.
