3:36:29 is my favorite cutscene in the game, simply because of how the use of DQ3’s “Adventure” represents so well what’s about to happen. In one timeline, the world was saved, and the adventure is over, but in this one, a new adventure is just beginning.

I love how Erik offers to take over for the Luminary when he's making the new Sword of Light. Shows how close those two are, even though they've only known each other for what? Half a year? A year? How long does the entire journey even take????

It really shows how close the boys are even though they are very different. But I guess Erik saw that Eleven was getting tired with forging the sword and thought, 'okay, my turn!' and offered. Shows their bond and how deep their friendship is!

My guess is that the whole adventure took roughly a year, but then you have to add in the time travel bit and the whole time span is suddenly sliced in two.

THat's a very good question. Unlike Some games, Square-Enix seems to want to keep us guessing on how long events of a game take. Take Kingdom Hearts for example, we have no idea how long Sora's first journey took but the 2nd one takes place a year later. and I think months happened between 2 and 3.

I shall forever be salty that they killed Jasper on the new timeline- like, come on! In the other DQ some of the villains get their redemption arc and live, why does Jasper have to die? He could have totally helped figuring out the Mordecan(?)/Mordegon/Calasmos situation better.

3:56:33 I totally zoned out during a very exposition heavy part, so uhhh did Morcant.. become mordegon? if so did he steal calasmoses power or something? I think after you defeat mordegon the power goes back to calasmos then? do I have that right? this is so confusing

Calasmos give Morcant some dark power to corrupt him at the last minute to save his life, that's all. Because Erdiwn couldn't destroy Calasmos once and for all, they had to just seal his power, and hope the next Luminary (the only one able to use the sword of light) would destroy his body when the time was right (the seal seemed to havea time limit, a very long one, but still). In the "main timeline" Mordegon, using the Sword of Shadow, destroyed Calasmos body so he would remain as the only Dark Lord. When Calasmos travel back in time with the Hero, without Mordegon to destroy his body, nothing could stop him to regain his full power. It's never explained how or why Calasmos has the form of a little Tockle, but we can assume he just release his spirit of his body to scape the seal, even if that meant leaving all his power behind for the time being.
