To find out your processor: Download and run CPU-z and check the model there To find out your graphics card: Download and run GPU-z and check the model there (both free programs) Also try configuring GSdx and checking 'native' there, see if that fixes your slowness problem

As the description says, it is for handling internal resolution. 2x,3x etc render the game at 2x,3x.. it's native resolution. So if for example the game's native res is 512x448 (like this one), 2x would give you 1024x896, 3x 1536x1344 etc. So with native checked, your game is running at 512x448 only. Of course the higher the res, the better the visuals ;)

I must give it to you guys (the pcsx2 team), you have done a damn good job on the emulator. I remember back when I was trying my hardest to run dragon quest VIII on my old laptop and I was still able to get 30fps in most places (back in version 0.9.5). iirc my specs were like a Pentium M 1.73 ghz, 512mb of ram, and integrated video. Im on a pc now but I run most games at 720p and they all run well. Thank you guys for all your hard work.

Try it with native resolution to identify if it's your graphics card or processor (if they are gone in native it means it's the GPU else the CPU)

While we are on the subject, have you tried the GSDX Cutie plugin? I love how vibrant it makes the colours which would otherwise look "washed out". It reminds me of the difference between connecting a television using a standard coaxial cable versus RGB.

First you are using an outdated PCSX2 version. Second, game speed mainly depends on your PC specifications. Mine can be seen in the video description

For me, enabling HW Hacks and checking WildArmsOffset and setting Skipdraw to 1 fixes most of the bugs when running in Hardware mode, including shadows not appearing and whatnot. It also fixes most text glitches without messing up the HP/MP bars. The description didn't mention the Skipdraw fix so I figured I'd mention it. Hope that helps.

Got the same crisp textures. Thank you for helping on the spec. The only "bad" about the graphics are the cut scenes and dialog box. It's somehow stuck at being medium quality graphics.

Yeah the cut scenes are pre-rendered so we can't render them again at higher resolutions. The boxes might get better if you use texture filtering

I have issues with this game on version 1.4. The sound quality is lousy, and certain cut scenes, like the one where Alistair confronts Dhoulmagus, don't play at all. You can see the text boxes and hear the audio, but it's just a brown screen the entire time. Normally I use Turbo mode on 100% as a speed hack, but with this game it get constant visual glitches. I might just need to set a certain rate on frames drawn and frames skipped.

have to say you guys are doing great and progress with pcsx2 is getting better and better with each svn..using a laptop and its a dell inspiron 1525se (yes i know onboard gpu lol but my comment will show others that you dont need an expensive pc or high end gpu to get games running near perfect)...know how ffx in omega ruins is usually the laggiest place in the entire game? gotta say my game running at full speed with onboard gpu..ee cycle rate staying low..gs below 80%..fps stays above 60 :)

Yeah it does load faster. On top of that you can disable the frame limiter (aka turbo) during the loading times, making the game run faster (as fast as your PC can handle anyway) and after it has loaded you can just toggle it on again.

Whenever I play this and honestly most ps2 games at 1080 I get this weird thing where 2d stuff like text in this game for example is blurry and covered in weird lines. Probably because the stuff is getting stretched oddly or something? Is there a fix for that?

Once I actually got into it I played it for a good month to finally complete it. Awesome game, I miss playing it on my PS2. I might go back onto it once i complete fallout 4 :DDD.

Has there been any progress as to what causes the brown flashbacks? Not a gamebreaker, but it's one of those things where I'm like "UGggghghhhhh." This wouldn't be a problem if I played at my PC, but I play on my bed and thus it becomes a pain to change it to software rendering, if only for a moment.

You can't. Unfortunately, upscaling is only available for hardware mode so you must either choose to live with the hardware mode bugs or go for precision and use software mode. You can use FXAA in software mode by pressing the pageup key for some better image quality in software mode but that's it.

I was running this game, but in the first town when I go to leave the pub, it won't let me. My X button just does nothing when I go to use the door. I can enter and leave other buildings, but as soon as I go into the pub, I'm trapped. And I have to go into the pub to advance the plot. Is there any solution for this? I tried to change the settings back to default but the problem persists.

When I set any game to software mode it changes it to native resolution. For example in this game, when you say changing to software mode fixes a lot of potential issues, how do I make it render in software mode without having to play the game in 640x480 (actually lower)

Cool!! Next time I update PCSX2, I'll just use the Vanilla plugin then and enable the Shadeboost for that effect. I really enjoy the new colour palette it produces a whole lot. It reminds me of enabling the VGA (or poppy bright) colour scheme on DS emulators.

Downloaded PCSX2 1.1.0 a few hours to go just to play this game. I have the ISO options all selected. My graphics in the game are about the same as yours in this video, but when I turn my character he kind of goes 2D for a bit and back into 3D. Another problem is my audio, it all sounds like a slow static echo after all the sounds in the game, the music doesn't seem to be bothered by this too much. This problem also causes my game to go slower, since I have beaten the game on the PS2 before hand I am used to the regular speed and I notice a 10-15% or so slow whenever the characters talk in the game. I have searched for a couple hours now and I can't seem to make it any better. If you could give me any help that would be great!

Start by using the latest release 1.2.1. If he problem you describe is like a zoom in/out thing, try configuring GSdx, checking Enable HW hacks and in there check the Nvidia hack fix, see if that helps. If the audio is slow it means you are not getting full speed, which highly depends on your PC specs and settings.

So i used the GSdx HW WildArmsOffset hack (first state) to get rid of the annoying artifacts on text problem. but now i'm getting the HP/MP bars bugged. is there anyway i can fix both of them without resorting to software mode? (i already tried putting WildArmsOffset second state but it didn't work.

Yeah internal resolution affects almost 100% the GPU only. Don't know how you can force your 6950 to go to 3D clocks when running PCSX2, maybe from the cpanel of your drivers

I got the game but the Cut scenes always look choppy on the edges but when in game is super smooth, and whenever any of my games goes through some sort of loading, I get this drag like sound as if a door has a huge creek. Make an ISO image of the game and run that instead of the dvd disc.

Both PCSX2 and Dolphin use your GPU. That build will play some games fine but will have some FPS problems with the heavier ones

I'm very tempted to spend far too much money building an emulation box. If a 9800GTX handles this fine I assume my old 260gtx would suit until I free up one of my 570gtx cards in a year or so? I love upres'ing these old games. I think they still look great.

Try changing the state of texture filtering in GSdx (half checked, checked or off). Also make sure you have the WildARMs offset hack in HW hacks of GSdx to the first state
