The sad thing is this runs more smoothly than my 5800X3D and 4070 in town. For me it somehow starts stuttering like mad in town (not always) the frametime Graph goes like |_|¯|_|¯|_|¯|_|¯|_|¯|_|¯|_|¯|_|¯|_|¯|_|¯|_|¯|_|¯|_|¯|_|¯|_|¯|_|¯. And it's TERRIBLE AWFUL HORRIBLE etc... it's feels as bad as if the game was running at like 20FPS even if the FPS counter says 60FPS.

What GPU you have doesn't matter, just CPU. So you should get the same FPS as he does. Honestly the game doesn't run any better than this on my 5800X3d and 4070. My FPS counter does say 55-60fps in town but it actually feels/looks less smooth than this video.

Anything below 90% on the gpu percentage means that the graphics card is being bottled necked by something, and withholding frames. In town, it doesn't show the cpu as 100% due to how the workload is spread out between both cores and threads. For the cpu to be at 100% every core and every thread would each have to be working at maximum workload, and this game is not optimized well enough. The problem with the cities is how games calculate the npc logic, which is absurdly demanding and will bottleneck even the best cpus on the market. Look at the gamers nexus video about the game, it actually shows what is happening besides framerate.

i just have an old gaming laptop with a i7-8750h, gtx1060 and getting a new rig just for a single game is to expensive. kinda sad that the industry starts to release games in a unoptimized state. DD2 looked like it would run fine on almost any specs, without denuvo of course. what a bummer.

Yeah, same laptop specs, we now have to choose the games only after benchmarks are out. I recommend downloading that Luke FZ FSR3 mod, works on 1060.

Even a 4090 can't run it smoothly so won't help. You need a monster of a CPU that doesn't exist to run it smoothly. Maybe wait for the Ryzen 9800X3D (there wont be a 8800X3D, 8000 series is mobile I think)

Why are people saying CPU bottleneck when it's clearly the GPU being taxed to the max? Also this game doesn't look 3 times better looking than the first game on PC yet runs 6 times worse. Games optimization is down the toilet since upscaling techs were introduced.

The culprit is likely Denuvo, I'll give this game a go in about a year when they remove it.

It is the CPU not the GPU. I get the same frames no matter the settings. It is an obvious cpu bottleneck for 99% of people

it is CPU. The reason why it didn't maxed here is because GTX 1060 aren't fast enough to process what the CPU telling it to. See higher specs benchmark and you will see.

Runs fine, mid shadow, mid mesh, dlls Quality. rtx on. high everything else. it falls only in the big town. Don't listen to the nay sayer's. optimization is welcome but not as bad as they say it is.

The game runs so ass cuz of denuvo. Denuvo is a copy protection software but it makes games run like shit sadly.. Also its UE5 and the older cards hate that engine for sum reason, i think its cuz of the lumens dynamic, global illumination and reflections features of the engine which older cards get melted with. :/ Im on a i7 6700k and a 1060 with 6gb 16gb ddr4 Playing on 1080p (maybe lowering this to 720p helps) And my game drops under 30 sometimes its pain.. Was so hyped for a 2 titel :(

sorry bud, but that's an 8 year old rig you have there. Better invest on a better rig. Can't use the optimization card with this kind of hardware.
