As a fan of the first game, I was disappointed too. For me, the main issues are that the game isn't truly "open world", its nothing but narrow paths that zig zag all over the map. Enemy variety is lacking and I'm sick of encountering the same mobs of enemies every 30 or 40 seconds. Its repetitive. And final game content is dull. Also, they dumbed down the armor system. And some of the vocations feel lame. And why did they remove the ability to use daggers with bow classes? The dragon fight at end is terrible compared to first game. I dislike many of the game decision. It feels half arsed.

DD1 is much more fun. The simple addition of melee and ranged for every class like in DD1 would help enormously...

I rented the game, played 2 hours, and sent it back. I loved the first game, but this game didn't feel right.

I liked the gameplay loop in the first game. The main story gets easier but you do it again to upgrade weapons etc... Is there anything like this in DD2?

I played the original years ago. i'll say its more or less the same. The story was stronger a bit in the first game though. Enemy variety is less but they appear much more frequently in Dragon Dogma 2. If you decide to travel around the map it does becomes tedious even with fast travel although limited by resources. I would have rather-ed had a smaller map size as well as better quest design, more vocations, better AI, etc @gamenesea1064 agrees with many of the issues I was experiencing.

Second game is way better lol. So I played Dragon's Dogma 1 back in June 2022. I thought the story was dull, the music not memorable, the graphics outdated, and there was a lot of walking in an ugly-looking world. The pawns, gameplay, and boss fights were the highlights, in my opinion. I rated Dragon's Dogma 1 as a mediocre action RPG. Dragon's Dogma 2 feels more like a remake of Dragon's Dogma 1, given that it takes place in the same world and has the same enemies and bosses. However, the world is expanded upon, and while the old enemies make a return, there are also new ones. It really is just a modern Dragon's Dogma, so the additions don't significantly differentiate it. The game looks amazing. The world is beautiful with many vistas that make you want to take screenshots. The combat is outstanding, expanded upon with new abilities and vocations to evolve into. The effects of the attacks look really cool and enhance the hero fantasy. I am enjoying my time with this game much more than I did with the first one. The gameplay is fun, and while we still have to walk around, it is not as dull. The world feels more condensed. The pawn system makes a return and is better than ever. The music is also nice to listen to. The story, although not significantly different, is still one of the weaker points of Dragon's Dogma 2. I should also note that there are new characters. Please give it a try. If you don't like it within the first 2 hours or, in the worst case scenario, your system can't handle it, you can always refund it. But to say that first one was better? Better in being more tedious, sure. I'm glad I played Dragon's Dogma 1 years later after release and content was added, because I'm not blinded by nostalgia as many fans sadly are. Don't listen to them, Dragon's Dogma 1 is actually mid and uninteresting. Dragon's Dogma 2 even with it's shit story is actually way better than dragon's dogma 1's GARBAGE story, bro that game had no story in comparison.

Lol it was kind of fun listening to the hate. I kinda like the game, myself. The gameplay is sufficiently enjoyable to keep playing the game (for now), and certain criticisms you (as well as many others) have with DD2 aren't really that problematic to me. Still, I agree with many of your points. And especially the point about all of this being quite disappointing, because of the obvious potential this game has. That's what bugs me the most. It's like here you have the blueprint of a fantastic game, but it's not fully realized. Like a dope puzzle, but the pieces are all scattered about. I think the game's release should have been pushed way back, to give them time to correct and refine. At this point, I doubt that future DLC could improve much or remedy the flaws, because most of these issues are more foundational than that. Truly a shame, indeed. You know, I played the first game ever since its demo was released, all the way up to right before DD2 came out (on and off, of course), but the first game was so much fun to replay, and this game is missing some of the first game's magic, so I doubt it'll have that kind of longevity. For now, I can still jump in and run around and have some fun, but it really should have been a much more polished product, I absolutely agree.

So what would you recommend to make it better
@QuantumtestGaming
@QuantumtestGaming 2 ай бұрын
i would recommend them them to add more vocations, more enemy types, hire better writers for quest, have better quest design like Witcher 3, make the enemies a bit more challenging as they become trivial halfway through. thank you commenting if u like the video please like and share this video and subscribe for more game critique.

@@QuantumtestGamingdon’t need more vocations, just more enemies and content and a better story that doesn’t leave you with a confused boner

@@QuantumtestGaming Witcher 3 fails in most of the areas mentioned. I don't think TW3 has good quest design, I understand saying it has better writing. There's games that focus more on writing, both for linear writing and for branching storylines. If that's your focus, there are other games. I have plenty of issues with Dragon's dogma 1&2, and I agree with those criticisms you outlined, but not when compared to TW3. TW3 has much worse combat, enemies, few enemy types, no class variation at all, very few abilities, only 2 weapon types etc.

@@7dayspking i am not talking about gameplay when i say TW3 i was obviously talking about the writing and regardless of your personal opinion the side quest in that game is universally praised because of good writing, obviously i dont expect DD2 to have witcher level writing but the writing of DD2 is still so bad that i dont think it hurts to take inspiration from other franchise for sidequest
@7dayspking
@7dayspking 2 ай бұрын
@@QuantumtestGaming I agree, TW3's side quests have been praised for writing, which I acknowledged. But that's different than quest design. Quest design was a weakness CDPR publicly aimed to improve for Cyberpunk during Cyberpunk's marketing. In TW3, quest design often meant. Horde mode. Go to 3 marked locations and press on 3 things, often with a group of enemies waiting. Go to X location to fetch something, search in area using Witcher sense, a horrible filter effect on your screen that creates a glowing, or in this case red bread crumb trail you follow to the objective. There were some less simplistic or generic quests, mostly main quests, where more effort was used. Mostly just in cinematic set pieces or linear action game like levels. The Witcher 3 did have a handful of dungeons related to quests, but they weren't the best dungeons in games exactly. I think Dragons dogma could improve in lots of areas. But, as an RPG, I'd prefer it address these weaknesses with inspiration from better, more rounded RPGs like many noteable cRPGs. Combat's already well done, technology and art was pretty solid in this sequel as well, it's everything those things that could improve lots. Dragons Dogma is a Japanese game though, I don't remember ever seeing a JRPG that did all the things western RPGs do. Lots of them do have nice objective design though that's similar to point & click adventure games, with exploring, investigating and solving things, which is a nice design. So maybe more of that. JRPGs also tend to have larger rosters of enemy types than western RPGs as well.

Really not, I liked this game, my first play through was 51 hours, 120 in-game days. This game was better than I expected, and I kid you not, I feel like replaying it again. I'm stopping myself from doing that, because I have a backlog I'm trying to finish, and this game was on the list to be played. But yeah I actually enjoyed it 8/10 for me, and I can't wait for future content if they ever add anything.
