Tip for High Levin 5:07: after you cast it you can keep zapping bolts by pressing any of the ability buttons until you run out of stamina.

Can also recommend getting the first thief augment which decreases the chance of you being targeted, can come in handy when youre standing still channeling and doing a serie marathon while waiting for maelstorm to cast 😂

You can change your sprint so that it's no longer on Circle/B. In controls click the first option and select the "examine only" option turn it to yes.

I was also about to comment this, I was getting annoyed with running into people when I was trying to talk to them and scared of running off edges when loot was near cliffs. Also, not a Sorcerer tip but still helpful, I would switch the options to pressing for B/circle for speaking to NPCs instead of having to hold it.

High Spellhold is a must….allows you to store any spell to use without cast time. You still have the casting animation, but the time it saves (and the security of knowing you have a nuke you can you at any time) is awesome.

I think it's definitely worth changing your sprint to hold instead of toggle because if on controller you can still push in the left stick to auto run and then hold to run during fights so you don't waste stamina

I am brazilian and games cost SO MUCH here. I saved money for Elden Ring DLC and still saving for Stellar Blade. But once DD2 goes on sale, I will def get it. On the other hand, I am scared of waiting for a sale because I know every game usually nerf weapons and spells with time. I know the sorcerer wont be as powerful when I finally get this game. :(

It sucks they got rid of that Ice Spell that shoots out Twisting Icicles from DD1. That Spell alone was the Go To for Sorcerers due to it destroying everything in front of you like a Ice Shotgun. They could have made it a Ultimate like Maelstrom, but they probably realized it was to Overpowered.

They made Frigor in DD2 a sorta hybrid of DD1's Frigor and Gicel spells. It's not quite as powerful as Gicel tho tho.

A combination that I often use when a large group of enemies is coming or a tough boss is cast maelstrom and then store it in spellhold, that way you can cast it instantly.

I’ve been running Subtlety from the thief class on my Sorcerer. Alongside the aggro pulling from my pawns, it gives me ages of free time to cast spells

Personally, I'd argue that galvanize is quite nearly useless. It takes so long to start and stop casting it that your stamina bar that it makes little actually difference. It takes my stamina bar 8 seconds to regenerate normally, but it takes about 6 seconds to regenerate using galvanize.. but it also takes another second or so to transition from casting galvanize to casting another spell. By the time the galvanize kicks in and starts giving you extra regen your meter is already a quarter full again, and by that point you pretty much already need to stop casting it and transition back to your normal stance to begin casting something else again. It's just.. pointless.

I have not yet reached the area you mention in the video to buy that staff, but if you can go in the initial part of the game in the elven area. Sacred Arbor in that place sells good equipment and imbued with improvements, a staff imbued with 10% lightning and has strength 218, magic 604 cutting strength 0 hitting strength 100 knocking power 152 and improvements can be made separately. Then there is another staff but with less damage but it has a 100% holy damage improvement. If you could shed a little more light, is it worth buying these initial staffs or going directly where you indicate in your guide?

Stamina drain in this game is obscene compared to the already high stamina drain from the first game. Like seriously, it feels like they made everything drain you 50% faster. Sorcerer having Galvanize isn't some kind of "bonus", it's an absolute necessity. Out on the road, trying to run more than five seconds and you're wheezing like you're having a massive asthma attack. Also, normally I hate using R3 or L3 for sprint, but in this game it's mandatory since someone had the brilliant idea to make it the same button you interact (and loot) with. Best Sorcerer skill for annihilating bosses, as long as you're putting in on their weak points would be Augural Flare. It's kind of like the old game's version of Exequy, but not exactly. You basically cast it, then start focus firing on it as much as possible, and when it detonates, it can take off 3/4 of a full health bar. Seisem damage by comparison is pretty pathetic, even on large enemies. The damage just isn't there. Lastly, by far one of the most important augments from other classes would be the final one from the Mystic Spearhand. It's BS that it's the last augment, but you can actually run without sounding like you're dying every five seconds.

You mean on the left? The problem with Salamander is that is casted not towards camera direction but character direction. It means, as hte casting animation is slightly rotated towards the right side, that the spell will have a little roght offset, and so it needs to be casted looking at the character and not at where you are pointing the camera to

You forgot to mention where we can find the best blacksmith for casters. The beastren one makes weapon heavier with more stagger than the first one in Vernouth for example. There should be one for mages 😊

Goblin Bane is a Mage Stave, and I don't see another of a similar name for the Sorcerer on the wiki. I'll have to wait to see when I'm at Checkpoint Rest town. Bakbattahl is some good stuff anyway.

Really late to this, but Frigor and Meteoron are surprisingly good. Frigor I prefer over Hagol because it still can debilitate, creates terrain and can hit Golems surprisingly. I find that it kind of is a halfway point to DD1's Gicel this game because it does a ton of damage when hitting weak enemies. Hitting a dragon's heart for example is easily half a health bar, not taking into consideration you can spam this quite often. Meteoron is also insane and is the better of the two maister spells imo. It hits golems as well, and absolutely obliterates enemies regardless of whether they're weak to fire or not.

From Sorc page: Pick up the side quest Vocation Frustration from Klaus at the Vernworth Vocation Guild in Vernworth. Complete the side quest: Vocation Frustration. The side quest tasks the player to find and bring an archistaff and greatsword to Klaus. By bringing the weapons to Klaus, that you both find inside chests in Trevo Mine, you'll gain access to the Sorcerer and Warrior vocations. In DDDA i never did magic. Not the magick archer, mage, or sorcerer. I just went into sorcerer in DD2. Ive maxed warrior and did a lot with everyone except trickster but im excited. Im trying the sorcerer thief warfarer mix to try to op the game.

A sorcerer that can only equip 4 spells feels so limited. Give us the ability to switch spells on the go to adjust to every encounter. I keep thinking about bundling all same elements spells under one skill slot and we could switch it as we go. We could equip flagration, salamander, and meteors on lets say L1+□, and so on for other elements. Now thats what I would call a freaking sorcerer.

I was really interested in the auxiliary incanting mechanic and made my pawn a mage too and gave them all the same spells I have. I can't get them to help cast any of my spells though. Any advice on getting this to work?

Don't sleep on Palladium, it doesn't just block damage it completely negates effects, a cyclops can drop kick you and instead of sending you flying you can just finish the spell. And upgraded version puts it on your pawns, it's so good for boss fights.

as far as i know(i could be wrong) i dont think holy is in DD2 since Seism is considered a physical spell now in DD2 awhile in DD1 it was a holy spell same goes for Maelstrom in DD1 it was a dark spell but in DD2 it’s considered physical too i believe

There is a mage staff you can buy in checkpoint rest town that has a permanent holy enchantment. Also that mage spell that puts up a damaging radiating orb in the sky, pretty sure that does holy damage. So holy is in the game, just seemingly a little few and far between so far...not tried but doubt the focus holy bolt spam will be a thing in this game, at least not as much OP anyway lol.

They should have added to the spells with further manipulation after long cast times. Being able to throw down a flame wall and then hold r1 to draw from that flame to then cast out waves of it at enemies or form fireballs from. And hell, why not then cast a tornado which then turns into a flame tornado. I like Dragon's Dogma but I cant help but feel let down at times with where I would have wanted to take things at a director. 😢

Thank you! I started with Mage. I switched to Mystic spear hand and it wasent really clicking for me. I think I’m just not to fond of melee classes in dragons dogma idk. I’ll probably switch to Sorcerer and then Mystic Archer if I still haven’t beaten the game by then. Also: I had the goblin staff but sold it because I thought I wasent going to be a sorcerer. Can I buy it back from the merchant I sold it to or from the checkpoint town?

You dont need levin, hagol is poop and so is salamander. Much like all the other vocations in the game, there isn't much choice if you want to have a good build. You pretty much have to run Frigor (best damage quick cast), seism (physical damage), flare (filler boss damage), maelstrom (1 shot if you can manage to cast it). Having levin, hagol and salamander is just a dps loss and you may as well play mage. Those weaker status effect spells can go on your parties mage.

I don't like team management of any kind in a game. Can this game be resonably played without pawns? If yes,, what would be the best class? Also, i haven't seen any review yet that says anything about the difficulty of the game. I assume that means it's relatively easy and you don't need to be able to dodge and parry with millisecond precision?

Its very difficult but in a different way than playing dodge simulator. You will die just as much if not more than in soulslike. Its hard to explain. Easiest way to explain it is dumb people wont finish this game as you cant just play nilly willy. Need to do your research, preparation and then execute it correctly. esp mid game and later. If you fail anywhere you will die. And game have 1 autosave.

The best starter class for playing solo would be Thief. Good damage, best speed, access to dodges and parries, and being able to auto infuse their weapon. After that, change to the Spearhand or Warfarer vocation. I don't think this game will be more fun playing without pawns, but is up to you

Micro management in this game would pressing left to require help of any kind and "go" to send them to attack... I've seen worst... Also by playing without pawn you won't carry much. Like next to nothing. Armor parts, weapon, 1 camp kit, 2 potions and you are nearly overloaded... good luck to you.

There's not much management in this game really. The pawns tend to do well on their own. But if you want to solo play, thief would likely do well because of the i-frame dodge, stealth, and the infinite dodge skill later on.

You didn't explain where a good place is to find your first arch staff. I searched specifically for that and hoped you'd have an answer. I went back to the Trevo mine thinking that's where I should have found it initially and I still can't find the damn thing. Lol, help.

Trevo mine has a staff at the very bottom, it’s on the map it’s grievous horns. You can buy better ones in sacred arbor and checkpoint rest town

I found the staff and greatsword before I ever visited the guild. They were not useful so I sold them. Any way to unlock it still?

Yeah just have to buy a archistaff or greatsword from a shop, or find others in chests in the world. The checkpoint town place thing has a staff and you can get a mace in the butthole city. (bakbattahl)

Wait don't sorcerers use an archistaff not staves in general? Should be made distinct from a regular staves if the fighter and warriors weapons are made separate.That's the point of the quest, that they use different weapons as an advance class.

It's odd to me that people can take the time to s**t on people making guides just because it's popular at the time to hate a game. Especially when most people doing so are just parroting what they've heard other people say and haven't actually played the game themselves or haven't played it much From what I've seen, the game has its issues but none of them involve the game being impacted by MTs. So why not take advantage of people making guides?

Sorcerer is strong, but not a play style I prefer, same as the first game. Trickster is my least favorite so far, would rather have a pawn do support stuff.
