They relay on their intelligence, critical thinking, and correct logical thinking when it comes to battles and while we do fight from a range, this doesn't make us wussys. You can say the same thing about ranger/archer, as well if this is your take on the range vocations.

No, its a spell called Bolide that you can cast solo but the cast time is long. You can sync your cast with others though so if the pawn is 90% done casting, when you start casting you will also start at 90%.

I will miss the Sorcerer's heavy attack (magick shock-wave) from DD1, but I gladly sacrifice it for Galvanize. Waiting for stamina to take the duration of a whole spell to recharge was not fun.

Both are good. Mage has must have support spells for your party, healing, enchanting, protecting, illuminating darkness etc. Sorcerer is pure destruction magic, they do get a self support skill to sap health from enemies and self recover stamina, other than that its all meteors, tornadoes and earthquakes.

Mage is like a white mage suit for support more. Sorcerer is like a dark mage suit for dealing damage. Both are good.

at 1080p? with a 3060 and Balanced DLSS, maybe. I wouldn't run Ultra shadows/reflections, they're kind of a waste for something you won't notice anyway. Try to stay on at least Balanced/Quality DLSS. At 1440p definitely need more tweaking to maintain fps. At 4k, no way.

Can we get more information on Pawn behavior? I am VERY excited for this game, and I will play Sorcerer despite them being made less engaging than the other Vocations again (at least they can move at a more acceptable speed and levitate while casting now, though. Quick Cast and Galvanize will also help). However, what I REALLY don't miss is having my Pawns be on the side of the enemy. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to get away from the Pawns in order to create the necessary opening to cast a spell, only for the Pawns to constantly bring the enemies to me, regardless of their inclinations or how furiously I spam "Go!" Will there be more thought into making Pawns into actual allies and party members (complimentary and different to my character) rather than redundant mimics (doing whatever I do)? Will Pawn behavior more heavily reflect Vocation/role within the party both in and out of combat (for example, having the Fighter/Warrior go tank rather than follow me in combat while also picking items up out of combat since they're the strongest. Having the Mage go to a safer spot that is NOT attached to my hip in order to support safely.)? Will they have more reliable and extended responses to commands (for example STAYING away for a few seconds, at least, when they DO move away after a "Go" command instead of immediately returning to make sure I get hit before I'm done chanting)? These are the questions that have been burning a hole in my mind since I saw that this beauty was being developed but there would still be no optional co-op. I really want to know if I will be able to use Pawns (showing that they do indeed perform better when in the service of the Arisen) or I will be better off taking my Pawn for a swim and never touching a Rift Stone (showing that "they are a clumsy lot" regardless of commander)...

I do hope the pawn AI is greater improved over the first one. I felt like the commands really didn't do anything. From what I've seen it does look like the AI is better but sometimes it looks like they dont know what to do. One of the clips the mage was switching between 2 spells without even finishing casting it. Another time the archer had a clear line of sight on a harpy with their bow drawn but was not shooting it. The intelligence of the AI is going to be a huge part of this game for me as they keep saying the AI will make it seem like you're playing with other players.

@@VanguardNeoIndeed! The big issue is that, just like "uncapped fps" doesn't really say anything to the console audience, "like playing with other players" can mean anything. It can mean "they will be amazing at their roles," or even "they will do their best to help you, even if they're not the best," or it can mean something all the way down to "they will troll you the whole game and actually get in your way at every opportunity." I am certain I will play the game, but I REALLY need a demo to decide how soon I will do so...

Played the game as a sorcerer. It's so terrible. Limited spell slots, no high level ice or lightning spells at all, most spells do pitiful damage, no way to get out of the harm's way while half the spells are close quarter ones, the list goes on. It's a disgrace compared to DDDA. Uninstalled the game and never looked back.

worst magic system ever! Casting a spell may cause the player to fall asleep from boredom -_- PS.who thought casting a spell for 4-5 seconds was a good idea? nothing happens in the meantime - a few sparks and that's it? the spell casting animation is boring! If they want to be considered creative, why didn't they come up with something more interesting? e.g. they could have implemented a mini QTE - if you make a mistake, you have to start from the beginning, or the spell will be weak. Even I could think of something more interesting, how about them? years of experience and they produce such crap! it's a shame!
