What exactly was this infection? I find the lore in DDON interesting so I'm wondering if you know

I'm not entirely sure it was super expanded on but in japanese I think it is referred to as the corruption. It infects the tree which drives the current spirit dragon insane. I don't know if the infection endemic to Findam(the world season 2 takes place in) or if it was brought by the agent of corruption Scourge.Seeing as scourge is an agent of the black dragon I would not be surprised if it was the culprit. Also seeing how severely infected enemies start to emit red energy similar to the black dragons.(pure speculation) Anyways the infection behaves like cordyceps on crack to everyone but arisen. It drives the host insane and eventually overtakes their senses leaving huge spores over their eyes and ears. To the player character infection causes a light poison in stage one then a stronger poison in stage two and a light slow. Then stage three has the slow get stronger while stage 4 insta kills you and lose a crystal without the chance for anyone to revive you. Infected that haven't had their growths dealth with emit a field of spores which apply ticks of infection periodically.

I feel like something like this could be added into a potential dd2 in the form of a quest or some kind of secret vocation. Like a necromancer creates a sort of magical disease that the arisen has to eradicate at its source for the quest. To connect to that quest, a secret vocation called blight mage that has you conjuring up spires of hardened fungus to hurt your enemies and a skill that allows you to stack that poison debuff through infection and once the enemy dies they become a little fungus zombie that fights everyone (since you already have pawns) for a limited time.

@@TacticallyCasualGamr Cool idea and I would love for DD2 to add interesting new content like this but knowing Capcom they will play it really safe. Seems like DDON was their chance to take some risks and explore because you traveled to other dragon's realms which meant you could easily have entirely different worlds without having to force it too hard..

Wait, I thought travel to other worlds was impossible in DD lore outside of Pawns.
