DragonArt Ultimate Gallery🐲dragons & mythological creatures. J Neondragon Peffer Art book review

DragonArt Ultimate Gallery: More than 70 dragons and other mythological creatures by J Neondragon Peffer. This is another great dragon art book, full of various designs of dragons and mythical creatures. For example ranging from traditional Eastern and Western dragon designs to the even more 'fantasy' elemental dragons designs ( water dragons, thunder dragons, earth dragons, ice dragons and so on ). As mentioned in the video, this art book isn't a 'how to draw dragons' type book, but rather a gallery of Jessicas dragon related work, as the title of the book suggests. If you are looking specifically for how to draw dragons, I have a book review / flick through video for that one too in the links below. Most of the rendering in this book is cel shaded (think anime style) as well as being quite bright and colourful, though you can see a slight range across some of the designs. Regardless of whether you are a fan of the rendering style, there is no doubt there are some incredible dragon designs in this book - very inspiring & motivating for Fantasy artists.
What happened to Jessica Peffer, the artist & author of the Dragonart books? I have looked online multiple times but I cannot find any sign of recent work, or where to follow her anymore, other then her old inactive Deviantart page. This is a huge shame as I would love to see her recent art work and what she has been working on. Let me know in the comments if you guys know more!
I'm also curious about the Dragonart Evolution book in the series, if anyone has it, is there a big overlap compared to her other books, or is it still worth purchasing if you own the others?

I remember loaning DRAGONART from a city library a few years ago. The art works 🖋️🖊️✏️🖍️ were absolutely amazing 😺👍. I didn't find any new books in a few weeks, but i did buy the Scentos scented fine line markers 🖍️ from the nearest hypermarket, and amazingly, they smell like the real fruits 😺👍.

I'm super tempted to buy the dragonart evolution book but I can't find anything online to see if it's the same as the original dragonart book / a heavy overlap which is a shame. Can you remember which one you used to have / borrowed? Some really great dragon designs in there! Hmm I haven't heard of those pens but I am intrigued to find out more!

David Fairbrother-Roe set the dragon benchmark for me. He did a stint doing covers for the Pern series which I preferred over Whelan's.

I haven't heard of David Fairbrother-Roe before, but I did a bit of googling. Those are some very detailed dragons and fantasy illustrations, does he have any art books of his work do you know? I quite like the William O'conner Dracopedia type dragon art too, they're pretty detailed!

haha yep! I must admit I have been concentrating on humans / anatomy / gesture / faces recently but everytime I see these books in my book shelf I think ' Why am I not focusing on fantasy creatires at the moment, they look like a lot of fun! '

Interesting dragon illustration book, it's funny you mentioned dragonart evolution and whether it's the same as the original book or not because I always wondered the same. If you buy the dragonart version please do show it on camera for us. Thanks!

The Dragonart evolution book has a lot of art thats from this book ur showing here as How to steps. It makes me sad to hear that J. Peffer hasnt got more of an online presence. At the time when she was more active, she was working on Dragon Flight. An online game where u breed and raise dragons and other pets. If she was still making art and posting it, i would have loved to have seen her evolution of her art work and what more books she would have made to inspire kids to draw.

I picked the Dragonart Evolution book up the other day. I prefer it to the original red cover / how to draw dragons book ( very similar but almost like a follow on to it with more details i think ) but yeah I did notice some of the dragons from this one are shown in the step by step section of Evolution. Dragon Flight, that's the one! Yeah, it makes me sad too, I wonder if she is still working on it? I am surprised she hasn't used social media just to post a few pics occasionally over the years. It's a real shame, I hope she's still drawing, I wonder if she has improved much over the years too. Maybe one day we will see more from her! Thanks for watching
