First off this has been incredibly helpful. I've almost memorised the opening rotation. I have 2 questions about it: 1. I'm struggling to get the last shadow strike done within the shadow dance cycle. But the couple of times I managed it I noticed I already had full combo points so the shadow strikes combo point regeneration was wasted. So is that step necessary or is back-to-back eviscerate just as effective? 2. Why go into shadow dance from vanish. You're already in stealth mode. I'm curious why you chose to do that. Again, thank you so much for this incredibly helpful guide. Because it's so good, I'm able to ask these in-depth questions.

Hello I’m glad you found the videos helpful! To answer your questions no if you have full CP just send evis the rotation can vary depending on SHT stacks and also if you do or don’t have windfury, that’s why it can end up different. There is a rotation where you don’t instantly vanish, but I find it way easier just to use vanish straight off CD so everything is off CD ready to go. If you do the rotation where you wait for subterfuge to fall off THEN vanish it can really mess the flow up if done incorrectly. The difference between doing it or not is incredibly minor.

You would get 4pc tier set from raid. I suggest googling "wow catalyst" as that will transform everyday items you have into tier pieces.

Man I have to ask, so for DPS it's preferible to spam eviscerate than to get stacks from Dance Macabre, with something like: -Fan of Knives -Rupture -Shadow Strike -Eviscerate -Shadow Strike -Secret Technique I started spamming eviscerate and Secret Tech on every Shadow Dance, but then I watched that most people use everything they can to buff your Secret Tech

No youre just wasting dmg if you dont do it in that order idk who you watched but its not right. You typically always Strike > evis > strike > stech every dance unless you have shadowblades up which then you will use a back stab instead of a strike.

There are multiple timers but the 2nd CD rotation is like. Flag > stech > vanish > blades. Should watch my boss videos would be visually clarity I have ability tracker aswell. Danse macabre jsut make sure you are using stech with 3+ stacks

Just replace eviscerate with black powder in the rotation, surikens instead of backstab, still shadow dance/shadow strike the main target

The problem with Hekili is it is a crutch, you end up spending a lot of your concentration looking at what abilities to use next, it's like staring at your action bar. Best thing is to watch this video, practice it in a dummy, practice it against rares in open world, practice in easy dungeons etc until it becomes muscle memory and your mind and focus can be in the environment and mechanics and the rotation becomes automatic

thanks for the video, I'm learning Rogue and so far it's been fun. Do you have any tips regarding the mindset you need to have to play optimally as a Rogue (of any spec)? I ask this because when I used to play other classes (Warrior and Balance Druid during BFA and Aff/Demo Lock during Castle Nathria/SoD), what I discovered that worked for me was getting a plan of what is expected of the class to work at like 90% strenght: as a Fury Warrior: You build rage and spend it as fast as you can without capping (unless you have a reason), which is simple yet really fast. When I played Balance it was basically the same: build resources and spend on Starsurge or rain depending on the situation. As an Aff Lock you keep the uptime of your dots in targets (as many as your CD's allow) and spend on popping them with Malefic Rupture. Demo was all about summons uptime and optimizing casts. What I wonder is what is Rogue (Sub in this case) objective as a spec? As far as I understand (which isn't much, I just hit 70) It's all about playing for CD's? Building combo points to spend on (ideally) Rupture > Secret Technique > Eviscerate while building with Shadow Strike and BS. CD's are there to give you bursts of damage and combo points for your spenders. Sorry if this is too noobish, but Sub feels a bit more complex than other specs for me.

I would say Rogue is a execution/sequence spec if you misuse your cooldowns any of them it will result in huge dps loss its definitely not forgiving/ Honestly you could mess up outside CD rotation and still perform decent aslong as you are doing CDs correctly, but ofc doing everything right is ideal.

@@Nasharnas I believe you might be correct minor dps gain. The only situation Ive encountered where backstabbing was bad during dance is when you do not have any SHT (Shadow Technique) procs. So the big sequence with shadow blades and flagellation is considered your big burst and the one after vanish is considered your small burst? And you just hold shadow dance untill your symbols of death is back up? How about flagellation. Do you always keep that to use with shadow blades? I've played a bit of sub rogue in an earlier expac. But it never looked this hard to me. Much has changed, trying to learn it again :D

After big sequence use SOD on CD and Do dance rotation something like Sstrike > Evis > Sstrike > Stech > Sstrike. We hold Flag after until blades has a 30s CD so it would be Flag > Sstrike > evis > Sstrike > stech > vanish > blades When you backstab depends on if you have blades or shadow tech procs you can’t back stab all the time like season 1 cause we don’t take the first dance Basically your second Big sequence you are just moving Vanish/blades After you hit secret tech because flag is 1.30 and Blades is 2m

Also I see you saying to only use flag with blades but you can desync and pull the timer of sblades down to give you the same amount of blades but you get an extra flag usage via desync and resync with vanish. (Fight permitting since phases and pack timings will affect but in a pure single target scenario across a 5 min encounter the sequence I mentioned should be superior @@Genmurasaki
