Thank you for your water color journal videos. It’s let me enter the world of playing with watercolor!

A very nice dragonfly in a whimsical way. The tail as you called it is actually the abdomen. The thorax is the area where the wings and legs attach. Additionally, the dark spots you added to the wings about 2/3's of the way towards the tip show be closer to the tip on the leading edge. They are called stigma and act as a weight on the wing to reduce vibration. All dragonflies and damselflies have 10 segments to their abdomen. I have photographed them for years and recently started trying to paint them from my photographs.

My old Art teacher used to call this type of sketching "Lost & Found". I've always remembered him, great teacher. Love mixing greens with Ultramarine Blue which granulates, I like that look. Great subject, love Dragonflies. Thank you.

I really enjoyed this video as I love dragonflies! Sometimes I can get them to land on my hand and once I rescued one that was caught in a spiders web. As to the video....I love everything you paint. You are a wonderful teacher! You've taught me not to be so critical of myself and to just have fun watching the watercolor do it's thing. I enjoy all the doodling too. Thank you so much Shana!

Hey I saw lots of artists use hairdryer to dry their paint. As a person who never used one (even for hair!) 😂 I'd like to ask something. Is there a significant difference between letting the paint dry by itself and by using a dryer?
@alvirosy Жыл бұрын
And beautiful dragonfly, btw! For me, it's one of the most elegant insects!
@shanacirce Жыл бұрын
It depends on how wet the paper is when you use it. Most of the time it doesn’t matter and really doesn’t make a difference. However, If you are using a wet-on-wet technique, you will want to let the water and paint do it’s thing before you use a dryer. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes so it is damp but no longer wet, and then you can use the dryer to finish the drying process. I hope that makes sense.
