When it's broken in that direction and you still have the chunk that got knocked off that's the only way to fix it. I guess if they weren't on the road they would have used a better glue that would have to set a day or two. If you can find it there's videos of Dimebag doing a show and the guitar still has the c clamps on it. Hilarious.

As a professional Luthier and custom shop owner, this is a fantastic job in a really crappy situation. Was on the road in Japan and had a wing of a Tobias headstock go, we used rubberbands and superglue, it works and will hold for quite a bit longer than most would guess. Nice job!

If it works, it works. When I make guitars, I set the necks in with a mixture of super glue and wood glue. Never had a neck come out of the pocket or had a single issue.

Great field repair , If you saw some of Michael Schenkers guitar repairs from japan in the 80s , there were semi permanent screws and clamps. And some repairs I have seen in the local music stores are way worse than this.

Lucky that the break was along the laminate line. Made it much easier to repair quickly. I like that little trick spreading the super glue with that plastic part. Sweet, quick repair job!

me and some friends fixed the head stock on my ibanez acoustic bass when you dont have the propper tools this method isnt a bad one we used something stronger then super glue but it works like a charm

Come thing it was a clean break. I had this happen to me once... I used PL construction adhesive and the thing is better than it was new! lol it will NEVER come apart!

Tip for anyone doing similar, if you put a little trough in the middle of the snapped sections and then pour baking soda in it and put super glue on the baking soda, It sets super quick and ridiculously solid, like harder than most Plastics. Can use masking tape as a boundary for the baking soda as well and it doesn't stick onto the super glue afterward

Headstocks breaking off is common, and if you look at the axe while he's working on it, it's got dings everywhere from the road, and he even says it broke from running it into a mic stand, and that's probably his favorite, and he has 5 or 6 spares to hand him when that happens.

Good quality superglue is very strong stuff. I always buy the loctite brand because none of the others have worked as well for me. I definitely prefer to use 2 part epoxy but in an emergency this is fine.

I've uses superglue and baking soda to fix chips in my headstock but never to glue it back on lol
