I actually think that it was less to do with the spirit of Arthur speaking to Bowen, but rather Draco throwing his voice and casting fire behind the pillar to give off that other worldly glow. Seems like Draco merely did the act as a ploy to get Bowen to remember his oath as a Knight of the old code and it worked :)

It's just as in this movie. Just as Draco is the last dragon alive, Bowen is the last of the old knights, as the other "knights" are basically greedy bastards making a living out of oppressing humble peasants during King Einon's tyranny. Bowen himself, albeit trained and taught in the way of the old honorable Arthurian knights, has now grown disillusioned, weary and bitter. Prince Einon, his only disciple, has betrayed his teachings and became a corrupt king. Bowen himself even turned to conning villagers with Draco's help. He has lost his old ways, and he knows it... And so he visits Avalon and finds King Arthur's statue and recites the old oath. In doing so, he renews his faith. I didn't know it, but the full version of the oath in the novelization makes it clear that as long as one virtuous and honorable man exists, virtue and honor will exist. This movie is wonderful... it's even better to me now that I understand it fully than when I saw it back as a teen. You'd think there is magic in it but, aside from dragons and rituals by which dragons give their hearts to men so that they may survive, there isn't any. Basically, a man is as just as his own heart. You decide whether to be good or evil, regardless of what you've been taught, you're always free to either follow those codes, or betray them. And no matter how much you may have gone astray from the good path, you may always repent and go back to it.

We live in a age where if some one with the right heart had also the power to change the world around him or her that you are a sworn being of fate to see change right and true. In this world heartlessness exsist in many forms. Heartless dwells in the extremes but no matter the waves we must use a heavy heart to hold not sink,a light heart must sore not drift. I know some claim that knights never followed this code. But in the memory of those who did, it saddens me that the Code has all been forgotten in this day and age. Where it says "his wrath undoes the wicked," most troops in this world openly EMBRACE the wicked; killing all manner of civilians instead of the enemy. Where it says "a knight knows only virtue;" folk these days know mostly greed, sin and vanity. Where it says "a knight defends the helpless;" more often than not, people HURT the helpless (like homeless people.) Where it says "a knight speaks only truth," people seem to tell bold-faced lies (like the government does.) Those of you who think "no one's perfect," I fully understand. But even those who are flawed are able to openly admit said flaws, instead of hiding under false images of perfection. I'd happily live with as many wrinkles I could bear, rather than use some stupid face lift. Even in terms of morality, people chose to make themselves as grey as a chalkboard rather than live by any morals...and that's just sick. What say you

@The Beast aka The Cobra All it takes is for one selfless act to inspire others. In other words, the knights of this world may be few in numbers. But if they inspire enough people, that could change

Still such a powerful scene when Bowen's nihilism gave way to honor and purpose again

Granted that our world is not all that perfect, even still, we have the potential and opportunities to make it so. So long as there are still good men holding back and standing firm against all evils that seek to rob us of such. I know the world is currently against any form of good men we have left in this world. BE STRONG MY BROTHERS, OUR TIME WILL COME AND WE MUST BE READY FOR WHAT CHALLENGES THAT WE WILL FACE. CLEAR EYES, FULL HEART, CAN'T LOSE.

I love how Bowen who has not had faith in anything or anybody for so long gets that back by remembering his oath as a knight

And being reminded of it by the spirit of the code's founder, King Arthur Pendragon.
@Leadblast3 жыл бұрын
@@danielhaire6677 well, seeing as how King Arthur's ghost did not really interact with Bowen other than reciting the code, you might as well say he imagined being spoken to by the ghost.

Would've been more awesome of ALL the knights of the Round Table helped Bowen recite the oath.

I think I already commented this somewhere, but I want to say it again, with the lighting and timely appearance of Draco, I definitely think Draco spoke as Arthur to help Bowen rediscover himself

Every soldier that picks up a gun or who simply goes into any armed force in the world should have this as their mantra, tattoed on their person or branded into their skin for all time
@Zeithri8 жыл бұрын
Buchaille01 Absolutely not. If we had that, we'd suddenly have a bunch of zealots thinking they're doing things in the name of good while doing the most horrible things you could imagine. You know, like they CURRENTLY DO. You can't tattoo a set of moral philosophy onto your skin and expect it to be true. It is something you have to work on, every single day of your life. It's a constant struggle to never break, never go against, and that is why almost every single person alive cannot follow one but only a few can.

+Zeithri i don't think so since it stresses "his might upholds the WEAK. His wrath undoes the wicked." zealots who commit war crimes have no care for the weak

In french: Un chevalier obéit à des valeurs. Son coeur ne connaît que la vertu. Son épée défend les démunis. Son bras protège les faibles. Sa bouche méprise le mensonge. Sa colère déjoue les tours du malin !

Like Boen I lost sight of my values and was more than a little bitter and frivolous about my way of living. Now some years later, more than I will give number.... I'm returning as best I can with my health what it now is, to come back to living by what I called as a kid 'The Dragon Knights Code'. And getting to see so so many others have respect for 'The Code' in these times is equal parts healing and uplifting.
