DragonOS Focal RTL-SDR w/ SDR4space, SDR++ 1.0.0, and SigDigger (WSJT-X, Spyserver, Suscli, R16)

This video shows some of what's possible in the latest DragonOS Focal R17 with the help of the versatile RTL-SDR and several preinstalled applications.
If you're just getting into Software Defined Radios, then the RTL-SDR is a great way to get involved. I figure I'll do a couple videos on various applications and new features before going into some advanced use cases on each one.
First up is SDR4space. It's a powerful SDR Javascript Virtual machine that can run various tasks with the RTL-SDR to survey the electromagnetic spectrum and perform numerous other automated tasks. I cover just a couple examples in this video. More detailed information can be found here,

SDR++ just hit the 1.0.0 release and with it comes a bunch of new features, not to mention its wide range of SDR support. Truly incredible software capable of so much. In this video I show how to setup a spy server on another machine and then how to connect to it with SDR++, which as far as I know was previously only possible with SDR Sharp on Windows.
I also show a quick way to setup a virtual audio cable which can be selected in SDR++ and be used to send audio over to WSJT-X. I'll take a look at using it's network audio sink here in the near future as well as highlight some of it's other great features. More information on SDR++ is available here,

SigDigger has also been upgraded in the latest DragonOS Focal and now has the ability to perform all DSP on a remote machine while sending the information over the network to be accessible by a local instance of SigDigger. Multiple SDRs can then be setup with different profiles to be accessed outside a local network. I expect many new features to be added to SigDigger to take advantage of this new capability. Watched this video on my way into work today and the SDR++ is an awesome addition for a project I was working on. I loaded up the latest release on a VM but sdr++ won't open. I'm reinstalling and going to try adding it in manually. Interested in getting your feedback on some things I'll reach out sometime soon. Pretty sure we know some of the same people lol.

quick update: I think it was a virtual box issue. I spun it up in proxmox and worked like a charm.

Interesting like just SDR++ wouldn’t load? Reason I ask is because I had an issue yesterday when using the AMDGPU driver. SDR++ wouldn’t load but it looks like some OpenGL issue after some initial debugging,

@@cemaxecuter7783 did some looking on sdr++ github and looks like my issue was some older mesa drivers. I think it was a virtual box issue. I'll try with virt manager as well.

Dear Sir first i would like to thank you for your great work and effort that you invest in developing dragonOS. atctually, i noticed (maybe a bug) that when i use SDR++ with hackRF one. i installed a fresh focal 25, and whenever i start SDR++ and choosing the source device HackRF, the program freezes and shutdowns down. So maybe there is a problem with HackRF one with SDR++. many thanks

Easy fix (it’s a known bug with soapy and libhackrf), you first have to start sdrpp and scroll down the menu on the left side till you find the module manager. Remove the soapysdr module. Then restart sdrpp and then when you select hackrf you should be good. I also recommend you have the 2021 or greater firmware on the hackrf.

Just got a radio today and hate it lol. Trying to set up 54 things to get it to work and bleh. Not good w this. I admire the fact you all can get this all going lol. 😂 I’m trying this dragon thing now but if it doesn’t work I’m selling my sdr 😊

Hi cemaxecuter, where i can download r16 release? I can't find it on sourceforge. I have two pc's and cant rsync data between r16 and r17, after rsync OS stops working correctly.
