Thank you Gavin for another great tutorial :-) This quick cold process method looks so much easier than the original cold process where you had to heat the oils separately and check their temperatures before combining. Is there any benefit/reason to ever follow the original method over this quick version?

Hi Debbie, the original method we used is a much slower saponification process i.e. it takes longer to come to trace, so you have more time to work things out. The quick method as you saw, there wasn't much time for error because as soon as the soap batter comes to trace, even a light one, any additional beating makes it thicken quickly. You have to work fast.

The hard oil have to be melted first then the others oil added to them. Once the oils are at the right temperature then you add the lye water to the room temperature oils. Just for your protection that lye water should be mixed in a well ventilated area and you should have on goggles and a mask! The fumes from mixing the lye into the water should not be inhaled for you protection!!!! I also make cold process soap just wanted to offer just a little information after watching your video! RobinM
