Love the way Peter gives the impression he is helping them out of a bad loan but wants a massive 20% if coupled with another dragon or 40% on his own.....the charity clearly begins at home for him.
@ashleygoggs56795 жыл бұрын
But he was doing charity work thought, any person with the slightest bit of business sense would see that the guys highly valuated their business with meager margins and a loss in funds. You do realise dragons never go into startups with say 5% or 10% right ? companies that manage to get low percentages off the dragons are the ones that have incredibly high potential and are already on their merry way. But there is also the bad loan, for most investers that would be off putting because they have to pay the loan back which means the company has debts which means it takes longer for the invester to get their money back and longer to make profits. The fact the dragons still made a deal in itself was charity work, but letting the guy own the majority is the cherry on the cake. If half the entrepreneurs knew they where being that badly fobbed off they wouldn't accept these deals.

Narrator: Next up we have the turtle neck tycoon who claims he can change the world through portable internet communication, a bold statement but will the dragons bite? Steve: Hello Dragons, my name is Steve Jobs and this is my invention, the iPhone. Narrator: Tech guru Peter Jones notices a red flag immediately. Peter: Where’s the keyboard? *holds up blackberry* Narrator: A big blow for the balding entrepreneur as a major flaw has been exploited in his product. Jenny: I’m out. Tuker: Do you mind if I give it a go? *gets up and performs a flying elbow onto the products screen* Narrator: Tuker seems very impressed by the products functionality. Peter: Tell you what, I have contacts that can bring this product to a worldwide market, so I’ll offer you all the money, but I want 90% of the company. Steve: *raises eyebrows* Peter: I will.. however, drop down to 85% when a keyboard is added to the product. Deborah: That’s just ridiculous, I can make you a bett.. Steve: I’d like to accept your offer Peter!

Unfortunately the Dragon's deal fell through after the show due to "Due Diligence". They resorted to crowdfunding.

@100daysmic93 жыл бұрын
But set the offer up to be rejected. As a business owner why would anyone agree to have two dragons with one having slightly less equity...the one with more equity would pull the load and she would coast on their efforts...unfathomable situation. Not a chance!!!!

Apparently they never ended up securing the investment after the show, so they turned to crowdfunding. They managed to raise £115,710 but went into liquidation shortly after and are now dissolved.

@ashleygoggs56795 жыл бұрын
This is how you can tell a businessman from a non businessman. The dragons see potential smash in the market, with their helps and contacts they can reduce the guys margins with the snap of some fingers very easily. Margins on the show don't mean anything if they get a willing invester, what does matter is how they run the business and their enthusiasm, They invest more in the people then they do the product.
