I think the interesting thing about Peter's question is that there's also a mirror concern the dragons have about this debate. Peter basically wanted to hear that he was going to focus on this, concentrate on it and devote his all to it until Peter received his return. This guy provided an answer that basically was meant to respond to another question altogether. That question being: "Say you walk out of here tomorrow and get struck by lightning, what happens to the company?" Very often entrepreneurs come on who are brilliant, but the dragon has a fear that: "This whole business is you, and I can't mass produce you. If something happens to you, this idea is dead in the water. So I wish you all the best, but I can't get involved." His answer basically was one prepared for that question. He essentially said: "No matter what happens to me, this product can continue to thrive and succeed with the right team behind it. I'm not indispensable to the product. I don't need to be personally involved and physically present at every stage to keep this going forward. With the right team in place, this product will do well." It's the kind of answer you can give to reassure an investor that 'if something happens to me, your money is still safe, invested in a great product that is in the right hands of a solid team moving it forward." But I feel like the more emotionally gripping answer would have been: "If you invest in me, I'll not rest until you get your return." and because that wasn't his first instinct answer, Peter opted not to invest.

When you look back at this episode you will probably change your mind. Everything points towards a weak product and delusional creator, no prototype, no sales, no investment from Nike, no dragon wanted to invest, not even the creator wanted to invest his time when asked by Pete, the answers from the PhD guy sound good to the viewers but investors would never fall for it, they all gave polite excuses not to invest, and Duncan was the only person with enough courage to pointed out the obvious (the pitch sounds like a loads of nonsense, using fancy words)

Yes, the guy is a politician. Even so, everyone realised that the product didn't have enough evidence of efficacy, only Duncan was courageous enough to point it out. Pointless to argue with a Karen with a PhD, promoting a product that basically doesn't have enough evidence to do anything.

When Duncan tried to imply that personal trainers were more knowledgeable than an academic with two or three degrees - a doctor with a PhD - I would have just said 'I studied at uni for seven years (just guessing, that's how long it took me, but I'm in the arts) and I have a PhD' and left it at that. Duncan's flawed logic is like a nurse knows better than a consultant, or a physio knows better than an orthopaedic or musculoskeletal consultant.

If he's a doctor, maybe he shouldn't talk about a "breathing muscle" that doesn't exist. What's that supposed to be? The intercostals? The diaphragm? If you belly breathe, which you should, the ribcage doesn't really expand anyway.

@georgegonzalez2476

That’s not how breathing works! The main breathing muscle is the diaphragm, and it expands downwards. It’s the main working muscle. That’s why it’s the one that gets tired and hurts. The other muscles are much less powerful and significant. Squeezing the chest is not going to do much of what they’re claiming. Lame and scammy.
