Casting a Drag Race Legends Season

With the seemingly endless amounts of RuPaul's Drag Race spin-offs hitting our screens this year and in 2022, I thought it might be a fun idea to create my own cast of a potential Legends season! This season has been asked for for many years as sort of the All Stars of All Stars.
I sift through all the queens of the franchise to find 14 queens who fit the bill of this season best. All Stars drag queens who have yet to get a crown, but have established themselves as a legend in the Drag Race fandom.
While there are way more than 14 legends among the Ru girls, this cast is just who I think would be down to come back for this type of season, and who WOW would want to bring back for such a momentous season.

An AS1 season done right would be a perfect context. Pairings that trully work well together and whose members go into the season knowing the pairing sistem and who their partner would be. In this context, a Jinkx/Dela partnership would not only be a no-brainer choice, but I trully think it would be difficult to find another pairing that could beat them

Willam for obvious reasons and Brook has said in interviews that now being a judge it doesn't make sense for her to come and compete. Alyssa Edwards is definitely one of the legends. I mean, you can see traces of her even on drag race seasons that came after her..from her appearances on future seasons,references, and catch phrases. That is a legend. Never forgotten, emulated, talked about!

Both of her lip syncs against Alaska were rigged so I never even count those. Her only fair lip sync losses, in my eyes, were against Kennedy Davenport in S7 and Detox in AS2.

Even though I LOVED AS6, I still feel like Silky has not yet reached legendary status. I think the time has been too short for them. I think legendary also means just being everywhere or at least having big memorable projects (as Dela isn't everywhere, but the projects she is in are) that's why I would argue Eureka is a legend because her name is EVERYWHERE.

Naomi has excelled at sewing / makeover challenges, did amazing on Snatch Game, Did great in Jersey Justice, fun variety show, and slayed the girl group challenge plus she's an amazing lip syncer. WOW would definitely want her back for drama especially if the brought back Manila too

While Raven is undoubtedly one of the most iconic queens to ever appear on the show, I think casting her on a season like this would be very unlikely because a) as you said, she's Ru's make-up artist and b) she's definitely lost a lot of fan support due to her blackfishing and racist comments. "Legends" is such a hard concept to cast because you can choose the queens from at least 4 different perspectives: - Who has the best track record from their past performances? - Who would actually want to come back? - Who would WOW choose? - Who is most iconic and beloved by the fandom? That's hard enough for a regular All Stars season, which is partially why we have what feels like five of them a year now. It's insane but I kinda love that it's so hard to choose, because it means Drag Race has given us way too many amazing queens to fit into one Legends season.

Yeah, Silky seems like the most obvious to run on another regular All Stars. She's got a lot of goodwill built up, but I don't know that shes at "legend" status outside of lipsyncs. Trinity and Rajah both already have a ton of fan love as icons, but I don't think Silky has become an iconic figure, she's just had an iconic moment.

Challenge wins don’t define the skill level of a queen. We’ve seen it time and time again. Some people win challenges and it’s been really close. Or someone should’ve won but was overlooked

Everyone's track records for being in the bottom multiple times should have been taken into consideration. Also their ability to be a triple threat, acting/improv/comedy, dancing, and design challenge abilities. Some of these queens don't have strong comedy/acting or dancing abilities. I think it would be fair to swap out Naomi for either Trinity K Bonet or Ginger Minge.

I don’t think Naomi has ever been shown to have poor dancing abilities, she’s done pretty well in almost every challenge she’s done with choreography like Bitch Perfect, Everybody Say love, and Super Queen. She also has a couple VERY good lip syncs and has never lost a lip sync either, and is one of the tour girls for Voss Events and is in the Vegas show. She’s also not that bad in acting/improv/comedy she’s actually done pretty well in a lot of those challenges. Her Wendy Williams was fantastic her political smear commercial was really good (probably would’ve won if Kim’s didn’t suck), Club 96 is legendary even if she was in the bottom, she did pretty good in the Empire acting challenge (obviously outshined by Bob tho), and her Jersey Justice was really good too even though they edited most of her jokes out. As far as design/fashion challenges go she’s easily the best out of everyone here being undefeated at Makeover Challenges and having RuPaul copy an outfit she made for the S9 promo. I honestly think there’s only been two or three challenges out of all the challenges she’s done where she did really bad probably S8 Snatch game, Sex In the City, and Lady Bunny Roast. Also, about the bottoms both Ginger (6) and Trinity (7) have more bottom placements than Naomi (4), also they have both been eliminated before, which Naomi hasn’t and has placed as a runner-up on both seasons. Also, I think the argument WOW doesn’t want her as bad is pretty wild considering they had her on the Vegas Show and she had MUG with Kim, and the Klarna show with Violet. I think that because her focus is on aesthetics and fashion it’s easy to forget that she’s not really bad at anything, she just has had a few off challenges like all the queens do. Sorry that this got so long lol.

In all of the franchise there are 321 queens in total (counting all the international seasons too and the Switch who is part of the Drag Race franchise), and In USA seasons there are 266 queens

I think the season would be: Alyssa Edwards (is a must) Dela (is a must) Detox (a must) Shangela (a must) Latrice (a must) Manila (a must) Jujubee (a must) Those are the ones that definately should be but that leaves 7 other spots.. I think those spots would be filled by.. Raven( such an icon they would find a way) Coco (although she did bad on as2 she is a must) And silky ( should be there) And I really think they would go for ledgends of all time aswell like from other franchises and stuff so I would include Lemon Pangina Heels Tayce And I feel like one regular us queen should be there because she is an icon and that is….drum roll please…. I disagree with the lip sync win quota, since most queens have only lip synced since they’ve been in the bottom on their original season. Some queens haven’t had the chance to lip sync. More appropriate would be if a queen had lost two lip syncs or more then she should be cut. That keeps Katya in the running and Katya is obviously a legend.

for this particular all star season, i would hope that they would change the system. nobody gets cut, but instead they will have a point system. two episodes before the finale, the top five queens will only be the ones to proceed. that way, we will all see what each and every queen has to offer for the entire season. if they cut one queen each episode, we, the audience, would miss out. a lipsync for your legacy between the top two queens would add some spice to the episode

The big change I would make is replace Silky with Eureka. The way you presented it, Roxxxy and Silky would have the same story line and I don’t think production would do that. Both Silky and Eureka were poorly received their original seasons and both changed perceptions on allstars. But Eureka already found the balance between personality and competing and that would give her a leg up in my opinion.

Not to mention she is a good lipsyncer. This arbitrary “win two lipsyncs” is not a solid way to call it. You can lipsync against someone really bad, still be a shitty lipsyncer and get a win. It would be nice if you would judge off of merit and actual decent lipsyncing instead of going along with the shows nonsense. Katya is a great lipsyncer and mover.

My theory is that the all winners season, is not gonna be it’s own series. I think it’s going to be the start of a new type of All-Stars type thing, where queens of different categories would compete together. For example, Season 1 would be All Winners, Season 2 could be the early out season, season 3 could be this All Stars Legends format, and many more, like a Newbies vs Veterans, where 7 first time competitors compete with 7 returning contestants, or a Heroes Vs Villains season, where 7 Heroes compete against 7 villains, or maybe even a Lip Sync assassin season, a Runner-up season, a Miss Congeniality Season, or who knows! Maybe UK vs The World is a part of this new format. But hey, that’s just a theory, A DRAG THEORY! Thanks for reading!

I had made one a few weeks back, though technically it was made for a regular season, I'm sure the challenges could transfer over quite quickly!
