Most satisfying to watch. The little beaver engineers created quite a dam that even held up to the undermining of the base support. Clever little beasts and hope they don't declare war on the dam wrecker.

Actually the way you're opening them now by digging out the bottom is a pretty smart way to do it. That's how a lot of man-made earthen dams fail; the bottom part gets too saturated and slides out from underneath and everything else follows. So by taking out the bottom you're removing the integrity of the vast majority of the dam, and the water takes care of the rest. And yes, it is a lot of fun to watch!

It makes more sense to remove it the way you're doing it. Removing from the top, the water drains from the top and leaves a good foundation for the beavers to rebuild on. Removing the foundation first and just letting the force of the water do the rest...just makes sense. Keep doing what you do, which is a great job 🌞

You are using a flat-faced /square-bladed shovel. Previously you used a tapered blade. Tapered blades tend to veer-off to the sides when digging. The flat-faced blade tends to chop through the debris -- a little harder work, but a little more efficient -- cuts through faster and more evenly. If I close my eyes, I can listen to the change in water movement noises -- very soothing.

Yeah it's not always easy to always easy to undermind beavers structures but it is rewarding to watch them fail with help from someone. They may not have a fancy engineering degree but they have a natural sense for building that is older than people because they have been doing it longer than us

I agree with you that if you take out the foundation of the dam then it will be more complete wash out. This 1 just wouldn’t work so you had to do it the hard way. Thank you Sir for this video

You did what you could to get the big collapse, but I think that, with this dam, the main issue was that it was an older dam, built more solidly that the big collapse dams you've handled recently and with most of the mud being in the bottom half of the dam and locked in with more than just sticks. If anyone has a problem with how you dismantle these dams, let them go out and show us how their way is better. In the meantime, keep up the good work!

Those mud dams are hard to collapse because the mud on the backside is so high. It sounds counter intuitive, but if it's made of sticks it's easier to fall over because the frontside and backside are the same height. A mud dam can be 1.5 meters on the frontside, but the backside is sloped to only .5 meter in height. Watch all the bubbles that come from the sticks on the backside, and you know it'll collapse.

I agree; there was so much support behind the ‘face’ that the water force couldn’t get down low enough to push the dam over. I think it would’ve needed a fairly deep trench cut into the mud on the high water side for that dam to ‘roll over’. But a great and enjoyable video, regardless!

That was a very large volume of water in that pond!! Great work. Check your posts at least twice a day. Love your content. On the reasoning that gets questioned, simply put it in your title for your video. Use Google maps or Google earth pro to get a very quick, rough estimate of the acres of land or Hectares of land you are saving from having flood waters. Most of us know, you are putting peoples in your community into a better way to feed their families by giving them back the use of their land. Like here, you could say Draining Huge Pond and 85 acres of vital farm crops. Keep up your heroic work. You work hard to give excitement to us as subscribers, and we thank you. Not every one can be a total collapse, but it is still great to watch and I like to watch your methods... Seems every day you post, I see you learning ways to force it to collapse, we can actually watch you thinking about what to weaken next....

Just like the snow conditions under the surface of an avalanche, i think the potential excitement depends on the history of a particular beaver dam, and how many layers there are underneath. (How long ago was the dam last leveled? How fast was it rebuilt(by how many beaver, and how old/young? Is there a lot of soil/clay behind the dam, anchoring it down?) Many of these things you cannot know? Be not spoiled by how dramatic previous successes were, maybe you were exceptionally lucky. I certainly wish you continued success. A lot of work, this dam. Keep up the good work.

There was no way that was going to collapse. It was 90% reeds and mud with a few small sticks. That grass was so interwoven with the mud it required Manuel Lábör to dismantle it. My suggestion from my observation and no experience is to clean out a shovel width 8 - 12" deep behind dam before going full tilt on front side. That may loosen the woven reeds enough to spur the collapse. 👽👽👽 But what do I know?😊 BTW nice work!

I don't know why people question you about why and how you approach these dams,..it seems to me if you want to use a pair of tweezers to do the job ,..the objective is to get it to flow and drain,..no matter what your approach is,..I think you have been doing this long enough that the point is to get it to drain,..that is it,..good job,..
