Kind of odd that a 1999 game has so many details missing in modern games, like the barrel breaking into small fragments, dismemberment on killing enemies are the most notable ones. Crazy how video games evolved backwards while only being pretty on the surface with polygons.

I played this on an AMD K6-2 450mhz machine sporting a voodoo2. It was one of the most impressive games I ever played. Not just the graphics, but the simple battle mechanics, story, immersion, and sound were some of the best I ever experienced in during this time. What an amazing forgotten piece of gaming history and im glad I discovered it then.

I totally remember playing this game as a kid not fully understanding the complexity of how this game can be at the time. (I was in it for the dragons, fuck yeah!) Yet I somehow only played it at night and I got scared of the creatures in the cave at 5:43, and never went inside the cave fully... for over a decade I thought I went a wrong turn, turns out I was supposed to go that way. Lol

You can download the Unofficial 445++ patch to fix that (just be sure to install patch 445 first). The only downside is that you can't play multiplayer with this patch, but it comes with an uninstaller so just run that if you want to play online again. You can easily find the 445++ patch on Google.

A remake with Unreal Engine 5 would be lovely but I would make it more RPG-ish with skills and stats that can be increased as you level up and I would call it Rynn: The Dragon Mistress.

I have had my drakan order of the flame original disc for years - FINALLY i figured out how to play it! Install game. Install patch 445 (i think thats the number) go to load game while holding shift key, box comes up with option to tick box with play as administrator or similar? then the next time it loads it will go straight to the main menu and not crash

I tried to play this game on PC like 7 years ago. It was going well until this part where I was with the dragon and I couldn't leave the cave because it glitched out and didn't have an exit. Really bummed about it because I got so far into it :/ would love to get this on playstation if possible

It was good for 1999. But now after the AiO or Community Patch.. it seems to stabilize the game on Windows 10. Also gives subtle graphical enhancements like widescreen support. And no crashing on difficulty selection. But be sure to launch "engine options" to disable dithering, and Vsync if you have a VRR display.

I don't think you could get it anywhere on platforms such as Steam or GOG. Your best bet would be to get yourself a physical copy or settle for a torrent or something like that, I think. I have the original disk myself but I would love to add it to my Steam library as well. :)

I found a perfect copy on Amazon, along with the strategy guide to use for a future RPG campaign. Also grabbed that 445++ patches and the game runs perfect better than some of my other old games.

any tips on how to get this full screen? When I start the game, it only starts windowed. Windowed mode is definitely not ticked in the dev monitor. Also, how can I set up a custom resolution? I didn't see the option in the cgf. I need 21:9, 3440:1440, but 16:9 will do fine, too. Just not windowed. This is actually the very first game I have ever played when I was 7-8y.o! I would love to replay on my epic titan x sli, 5960x rig lol.

The combat was a chore, but the setting had very strong immersion value. That expository sepia sequence though, oh my! Too boring, too long, sub-par visuals. Riding the dragon in the winter levels, under snowfall and with that uplifting background music, pure bliss! Nothing quite like it.

@@RavagerDX Thanks! I did find it as abandonware and I've managed to get it running with the patch. The only issue I have is getting it to run on fullscreen - it keeps being stuck in window mode for some reason. I'll keep trying to sort it out.
