The boy got an ear. The average music consumer doesn't understand how to value that and so theyre overly concerned with who wrote the words but if you ask anyone who does music on professional level will tell you the words are the least valuable thing. The cadence the melody and the performance of the words are way more important thats what creates the feeling. Good lyrics with a trash cadence or bland melody are worthless but someone can mumble and if it SOUNDS good it can be a hit

The hunger of this prime Drake was something else! You could tell he had so much passion for the music he was making and trying to really make classic/banger songs. He really doesn’t care like that anymore since he became the biggest artist and hasn’t really taken it seriously since Scorpion.
