Its not a sequel. Advanced Warfare is an original game/storyline that sadly never saw a sequel but it was once unique for trying to change up the gameplay.

Well, he killed Cormac from bullet wound bleeding out so it's not entirely cliche. He only left you, the player (Troy Baker), alive because he developed a father/son-like relationship through his son and didn't want to kill him, only punish him for "betraying". The other two were also going to die but because they're also highly trained ATLAS soldiers, they managed to fight off their former comrades and escape.

I consider this mission unique and underrated, because the simple fact you can't reload at all, something very essential for single shooter gamer, and also how much we learnt about Atlas prison's, that's nearly comparable to WW2 German prison camps for jewish people, just plain hell on earth, and a form of dehumanization.
